I gotta say, watching Tiger win that master has greatly motivated me to play some golf.
But we just won our quarter finals series in my beer league yesterday, moving on to the semi's!

luckily the Leafs won 2 cups with them while they were in the playoffs the last 2 years - senstroll
Can only do so much. When it's all being negated by the lack of heart that Matthews, Nylander, Kapanen, Gardiner and the rest bring, they can only do so much.
Give them just two of Mayfield, Clutter(frank), Cizikas or Boychuk, we would've won 3 Cups in that timespan |

I think Kadri is going to be done for the series.
Not debating whether or not that's the right call. - RickJames77
I don't see how they let him back.
Maybe one day some player from another team will receive a harsh playoff suspension. |

Babcock doesn't have the horses he wishes for. He's alluded to this many times over the past 3 years. Once he gets fired and Keefe takes over, him and Dubas can really double down on their team identity. Hyman will probably be gone, Kadri too. Maybe bring up Brooks and Bracco - walshyleafsfan
Babs doesnt have the horses? he had every opportunity to play Martin, but he didnt want him. he had Leivo...and didnt want him either. these are guys that use their size and weight. Babs doesnt like those types of players....and its funny, cause you always need a couple of those exact type of players in the playoffs.
Bracco will def be up next year. he will end up replacing someone like Nylander (if they end up trading him)

Ryan Reaves playing. That's (frank)ing dead wrong. - AdamFrench
every team had a Reaves for decades, youd think they game was played by gentlemen the whole time the way they stop anything from happening.
the 80s was so clean, I cant find any examples of players taking liberties |

Taking an isolated incident where something happened in spite of Reaves does not make the argument that having a Reaves does something to address DeBrusk running around cheap-shotting people all freaking game.
It also does nothing to address that our 3rd line center is the guy expected to step up when this poop gets out of hand.

It sort of does, though. You said that Reaves would have stopped it. Adam pointed out that just last night it didn't, and you wish to refute that claim. Recency bias?
I've watched McDavid get mauled and Lucic does nothing. It's his only purpose now, and he does nothing.
Coaches don't want to go on the PK, and the risk of the instigator penalty is a problem.
If you had Reaves, he and DeBrusk would've sat in the box for some 4-on-4 at some point in the game. That's about it. |

Leivo is meh so I don't care about him.
Babs loves those types of players no? I thought that was the criticism of him. He's old fashioned and stubborn. Doesn't play his stars enough. Play grinding physical guys too much. Loves Hyman, Abdelkader, Tootoo, Kronwall etc.
Are we saying Babs doesn't like physical players now?
Isn't it Dubas that is "taking all his toys away from him"? |

There has definitely never been a case where a tough guy stepped up to address some crap that happened in a game.
Never.
It is MUCH better to rely on your 3rd line center to address bullpoop when the refs decide to let everything go.
If the refs want the players to police themselves, then I don't want my 3rd line center doing it.

Questions for you all
Assuming Kadri doesn't play, are you at all concerned about your bottom 6? Specifically Nylander centering the 3rd line?
How much will this hurt the top PP and who slots up? I assume the leafs heavily use PP1 so slotting someone from PP2 onto PP1 won't have too much of an effect on the a 2nd unit that isn't used as much. |

My point was that you had a whole game of nastiness and one rat in particular running around delivering cheapshots.
THAT is the situation where you want someone on your team to address it, and that someone should not have to be Kadri.
Of course just "having" Ryan Reaves does nothing to address a particular incident. The point is that, when the refs are letting everything go, you need someone who can dish it out on your side.
Otherwise, you are just taking it in the ass, losing your cool, and getting a key guy suspended.

My only concern with Boston is if the refs let them run around and do whatever the F they want again.
