Buff and Landeskog, IMO, are worse than Kadri because it was a direct shot to the head (no riding up the shoulder). I still think Kadri will get and deserves 5 but it's nuts in the context of these (if it's accepted that playoff games are 2:1).

Also, is there not going to be a hearing for Jumbo? Wtf?

In one of the intermission sessions yesterday (probably Jets game?) Friedman noted that the Leafs were likely going to in citing the fact that of all cross-check-based penalties levied this year by the DoPS, only 1 resulted in a suspension. The others resulted in fines.

The problem as I see it from the Leafs' perspective: (1) Kadri's hit falls into the predatory bucket; (2) Kadri has a history - of this very type of incident; (3) From what I've read & heard, the DoPS seems to make up their mind before a player even comes to plead their case, so you might as well stand up and urinate on the desk - it's probably not going to change anything.

What Kadri gets isn't the question.

The question is how exactly do you deal with it when one team seemingly is allowed to do whatever they want without consequence?

It seems like the answer is that you play the same way and get penalized or suspended, or you just bend over and take it in the ass from the league, again.

I sure hope behind the scenes, that someone is saying something about all this. I am getting a little sick of the Leafs passive response as an organization. Someone from every other organization would be going ape-poop over a game like Saturday.

The perfect plan: we know thanks to Chara that if you're a veteran you can do pretty much whatever you want. In comes Marleau. We line match Marleau against Bergeron and by line match, I mean Marleau skates out and two-hands Bergerson somewhere below the shoulders and then skates off. This is allowed so it should work perfectly. (alternatively he can skate up to Bergeron and crosscheck him from behind somewhere between 3-5 times before he uses up his per-shift veteran discount)
