James Mirtle wrote an article about the Kadri incident on the Atheltic.... I thought it was bang on.

Most likely 4-5 games imo
And about 2 days worth of rage blogs on hb. - Fakepartofme
Don't think there will be rage blogs. We all know this is coming. I think we all agree that a suspension was warranted. No matter how bad the refereeing was, that reaction is just not ever going to help.
I think most people would just like to see the same measuring stick applied to Bruins infractions.
In fact, ALL teams need ot be measured the same way. Last year the night Kadri got a suspension, Tom Wilson (of all people) got away with knocking Wennberg out of the game with a blindside headshot... how the F was that not caught.

If it was up to me, it would be for the rest of the series.

Yeah that doesnt sound so bad.
I have no idea what type of game we are going to see tonight.
There is no way Boston could keep up the same play every game, they will lose good players to injury and already have.
Is that a great gameplan overall if you want to go deep?
Looks like TB is on the way out, what a surprise. Opens the door for a team like the Leafs to walk through it if they want it bad enough - senstroll
Well, Tampa isn't out yet. If any team can come back, it would be a record-setting team.
The other thought is that CBJ is beating them everywhere, especially physically. How good is CBJ? I don't think CBJ beating Tampa, if it happens, necessarilty opens the door for the Leafs or for the Bruins.

This should be put into perspective.
It doesn't matter if the cross-check was that hard. It doesn't matter if DeBrusk may have sold it a little or not.
Frankly, you charge at a guy and cross-check him in the head with the intent to injure, and you get the suspension you deserve.
Kadri didn't like the way DeBrusk was playing? Didn't like the knee, didn't like the hit on Marleau? Drop the gloves. Maybe you lose the fight, but don't cross check a guy in the head.
It's cowardly and cheap. - Monkeypunk

Dont cross check a guy in the head, instead try to punch him many times with bare knuckles...thats way better |

In brief, nothing you didn't know already, but well written. The league is tired of Kadri's name coming up, and tired of the fact that he doesn't seem to be learning his lesson. This hit is eerily similar to the one he laid on Glendenning.
It's going to be lengthy. |

While the hit in itself is completely different, I feel like Kadri is gonna have a hard time defending his actions.
Because he only proved the league he hasn't learned anything from last year's suspension.
So the next logical step is to punish him more to make it even clearer for him.
So yeah.... maybe you're right.... he won't play in this series again. |

The NHL refereeing in the playoffs is an absolute joke. And it affects all 31 teams.
I was watching the Pens-Isles series yesterday.
7 minutes left, Isles up by 1 or 2 (can't remember). A Penguin cross checks an Isle on to the ice, then proceeds to grab him and wrestle with him.
Refs call coincidental roughing minors.
Why?
Because it's a close game, and of course the referees "don't want to decide the game."
It was the most obvious cross-check of the game. He knocked the Islander down.
And I honestly don't blame the referees - this is how they are told to call the game.
It's a franking joke. Call penalties. Otherwise, you are deciding the game by allowing infractions to occur without punishment. |

A late hit and a scrap is what should have happened. Drop the gloves first and jack DeBrusk would have been far more satisfying. |

It is because it's the way of the game. I'm not saying I like it, either.
I don't mind tough hard hitting hockey, but there's so much crap.
I despise the BS after the whistle stuff more than you can imagine. A guy takes a shot at the goalie and peels away, and a defenseman comes and punches him, and pushes him, and face washes him. For what? Why is that poop tolerated at all. Intimidation in the game should happen between whistles, period.
But the game has it's boundaries and fighting is within them. That's HOW you take exception legally. |

Reffing in the playoffs has been atrocious for as long as I can remember.
It's become so ridiculous that I don't consider blatant missed calls an anomaly anymore.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't watch much of the game (dinner party), so I can't really comment on how good/bad the reffing was. |

NHL.com in the game preview lineups lists Joseph Woll as Toronto's 4th Goalie.
I am not sure about the reasons behind that - did the Leafs have to do anything (register Woll for playoffs?) or was it just because he signed his contract in March?
Other teams just have 2 goalies listed.. |

Yes. They usually still have their helmets on.
A couple punches to the bucket will most likely do less damage then a stick to the neck, jaw, face or head. Most likely how he was trying to frame it.

Take it from someone who's completely neutral (as in, I hate both teams equally).
The reffing in game 2 was pretty god damn bad. On both sides. |

It all comes back to the fact that the league, for some reason, uses a whole different standard of refereeing in the playoffs.
"Let them play" should never mean, let them do whatever the hell they want to the other team. When you call a game that way, you are ABSOLUTELY telling the players to police themselves out there.
It is (frank)ing ridiculous to then single out one guys and throw a huge punshment at him.
Nobody agrees with what he did, but there was worse that game that was absolutely let go.
