Dude - you know you're trying to stir poop up. - Woderwick
No dude I am not. And my responses clearly show that.
edit: I have an account since 2007, and not sure if I have ever posted in the leafs forum. Pretty sure I am not trolling. |

SHUT. THE. (frank). UP.
It's a (frank)ing knee and you know it. The video and images clearly show it. Probably why Kadri immediately grabbed his knee when he went down. - As_I_See_It
nah... clearly not a knee at all .... Debrusk just decided as part of his natural stride when you trying to hit a guy to pull back his shoulder, his elbow and accidentally his leg moved a mear 4-6 inches to the left.
purely accidental.
but it does leave me to wonder if the player was ... for example a wearing a Bruin sweater with #4 on it... how the hit would have been viewed.
seriously, if I'm Shanahan I insist on being at the "hearing" in person with Kadri.
I walk in with a couple of poster sized pictures like the ones depicted above, and just what the text book definition of kneeing is?

League will deal with it all... time to move on! - Roadrunner75
Nope. DeBrusk probably won't get suspended. That knee on knee hit is Kadri's fault. The league is saying it was accidental because Kadri has knees. |

If I read into your statement, I would walk away that Matthews is better than.
However, I could be bias, because I already believe that notion.
A possession machine that would outproduce the other player, comes across as the better player to me. - Mentalorgasm5
It's hard to have a definite A or B answer. That's my point. How do you gauge better? Points? Then probably Matthews. Giving a poop on every shift? Then Marner. |

Agreed. Apparently Debrusk's hit was deemed "accidental" |

Good folks of Toronto, who is better; Matthews or Marner? - Mentalorgasm5
Eichel.
but only when he's GM...
he's one dimensional as a player.
and seriously, someone needs to help that boy out and tell him to shave his head. |

You guys still don't seriously think that debrusk stuck his knee out do you?
I went back and forth thinking about it and watching the replay and I honestly don't think it was malicious. - AngryWhiteMale
take off the muppet mask... because its blocking your vision.
look at the two photos posted about 30 minutes ago...
and if you have ever played at any competitive level above pee-wee... tell me how DeBrusk was balanced in those photos?
oh...

Already determined that one, agree or not. I meant league will deal with it re: Kadri.
End of the day the league has a real problem to deal with in the crap reffing across the league not just in this series but yeah.
Saying the league will deal with it was referring to Kadri being stupid with the cross check. Nothing we as fans can really do about it.
As is, love to see Shanny go in there and back our player some BUT, I am more dissapointed to see our coach not do so. Cassidy backed his players, Babs shrugs and meh's and does nothing. Torts would have walked in with a cheque in hand to give over and lit the refs and league's ass on fire!!
Now as a player tell me which coach would you go to battle for and give your all for? The guy who believes in you and speaks up for you, right or wrong doesn't matter, or the guy who shrugs and meh's and says not a damn thing?!

Doesn't seem like there is a decisive answer on the topic. So I don't really have an arguement or data to bring back to the Sabres forum.

Nah that is just it, comes down to preference and as I said before what a team really needs more than anything there. Different players.
If I was to look at Buffalo... you have Eich up the middle already. Would you want Matthews or Marner? If I am building the team having two elite centers would be nice BUT....Eich with a winger like Marner, well look at the year Tavares has had playing with him! I would want Marner personally in that case.
Now if you were say... Montreal where center is more of an issue (granted they are getting there and have some good young prospects/young guys), I would lean more Matthews, where you could have Drouin, Domi etc on his wings. The fit and need is different there. |

Yeah wasn't just him but.... as I said bad bad timing then.
In all seriousness to be nice and answer, honestly Matthews is a top end center, size and skill, but needs wingers and while stellar I don't think he makes those about him better, but he can be a game breaker all on his own.
Marner is a bit different. Winger who does make everyone about him better, I think higher skill level and really is the guy who drives the team.
Someone compared them to Kane/Toews not that long ago and I would say they were not far off there. IF you had to pick one? For me anyways it would be Marner. - Roadrunner75
Matthews has made Brown, Johnsson, and Kapanen into 20 goal scorers.
Second in the league in goals as a rookie playing with other rookies (Hyman, Brown, Nylander). PPG player in his second season. Another PPG season this year.
Marner had the benefit of playing with someone arguably better than he is this season in Tavares. When has Matthews ever played with someone on Tavares’ level? When Nylander is on his game he’s a beast, but lacks the consistency of Tavares.
I’ll take the big, PPG centre (with 111 goals in 212 games) over the flashy winger. |

Honestly, I would want Matthews still. Eichel and Matthews down the middle would be nuts.
Plus, I wouldn't hate sliding Eichel out on wing. I actually feel he might be a better fit there.
edit: anyways I am out. No offense some are just a$$es here (we have plenty at our forum too, but at least there I can hide behind the logo there) |

I think George Parros is in over his head and really franked this up by not suspending DeBrusk and the league franked up by not holding the refs accountable. |

Everyone's just in a really pissy mood from the last game. Bad time like someone else mentioned lol.
It's honestly a highly debated question in our thread too.
If Matthews can be consistent, I think he would be the better player. But as of right now, Marner is the more consistent producer that always steps up in big games, so I lean towards Marner. But, if Matthews steps up for the rest of this series, I'll probably change my mind.
Marner is also just more exciting to watch, which may make some of us biased towards him. |
