So it doesn’t bother anyone here that our 6’4 goalie plays the whole game from his knees and gets beat upstairs? - Doogs
Thats the whole benefit of being a big goalie
you can play low and still have a lot of the top of the net covered
Being 6'4 doesn't help you defend the top of a 4' net from your feet |

Pens let up one goal and they abandon their game plan. This is a problem.
Overcommitting is suicide against the Isles. - Rinosaur
Isle has had 3 or 4 odd mans already. |

Has Malkin even played in this series? - PittsPens
Malkin is falling off the map as an elite player
Puts up goals on the PP and assists when someone else does the work
Malkin and a other "top" players aren't even in the same league anymore |

Malkin was pretty darn good in game 1.

Inability to transition from defense to offense is quite telling that Sully is being owned by Trotz. |

Ok Johnson-Schultz had a good shift there. More of that. |

If I didn’t know the score, I would swear the Isles were down based on the flow of the game. Bad sign |

+1.
But who replaces him? - ab1
There’s a number of options but mine goes for AV just because I don’t know the others very well. His teams are always successful but poorly constructed. He wouldn’t lean on a guy like JJ but he might lean on guys like Wilson and Cullen. We would need to be confident GMJR could keep those guys off the roster. We would be a much more structured, defensive, quick transitioning team. Isn’t that what we want for a team like ours? |

Pens have to mirror the Isles system. Only way to win this series. |

He leaned on Girardi way past his expectation date, so I don’t know about that. |

They’ve had all the odd man rushes and then we earn a 3 on 1 and Guentzel with an awful pass. He’s been bad all series. Are we willing to die with Jake playing like this? I don’t think Kessel with Crosby is a terrible idea either. I think we need to give Simon his due as well: dude is hard in on the forecheck, sure he isn’t hitting but he’s tying up sticks and making it so they don’t exit the zone so easily. He’s supporting his teammates and he drew that first penalty |

Guentzal is struggling, but I see no reason why Simon is on the top line. Hornie should be there. |

Time to shake up the D pairs imo. We have one good pair. Give JJ to Letang and give Dumo to Schultz and tell him to stay in is damn lane. Either that or just shake up he entire thing like I said before. So many teams play such a tactful defensive game and ours is absolutely careless. I don’t think this is coaching either, these are bad individual efforts - WSCTeton17
I’d say keep dumo/letang and put Pettersson with Schultz and don’t let Johnson or gudbransson touch the ice more than a few minutes for the rest of the game.

The grass is always greener. You watch, if the Pens get swept this board will be crying for the Pens to move Geno, Kessel, Murray and Maatta.
You almost wish they would do that so we can see how bad they'd be be after. Crying that we don't have a sniper, or true #2 center let alone one of the best Centers in the world as our #2.
Ignore these fools. |
