Love how Wilson’s avoiding the Islanders 4th line. Those buns that they are, don’t deserve to be in an nhl sweater.
- Grinder47

Seriously, they have had no positive impact on the game. I mean how many other four lines contribute 70 points to their teams success, let alone have a 20 goal score on that line...Send them to the minors.

I am listening to what Mike Rupp said last night. Chip and chase, force the Isles D to give up the blue line, then carry the puck. Remember Rupper played on the old Lamarillo teams and Trotz also likes that type of hockey. He knows how to beat their system.

The Islanders are playing as well as they can play. They are absolutely flying out there. Lehner is playing out of his mind. This is going to be their best round of the playoffs, by far. They are not a young team, at some point they are going to tire and Lehner is going to come down to earth. But it won't be this round.

The problem with the Chip and chase strategy is the Penguins have to win the race and then win the battle for the puck. The Pens seem disinterested in doing those things.

Getting home on a better surface when Sully can get better matchups should def help.

But at least with this system the puck is 200 feet from our net and there’s a chance that we might win a puck battle or the Islanders straight up just turn it over. It can also generate more hits, which is what they’re doing. Instead though our forecheck has been both soft but also predictable and they exit the zone easily. Really easily. Their forwards are constantly coming up the ice with speed

I'm all for it. I just don't have a ton of faith they're willing to execute it. Usually the Pens are dumping as a last resort with guys standing flat footed at the blue line. Kind of hard to get to the puck first doing that. The Pens have always been loath to give up possession of the puck. That's why they've had so many brutal turnovers at the blue line.

They achieved the second best record in March by doing things they didn't do at all last night haha. It's wild. The half a$$in passin up the boards made me yell at the TV a few times.

I beleive McCaan, one of their fastest and most creative wingers, to be a huge loss. He was noticeable with both Sid and Geno.

And I get that, but that's super fixable. A player has a bad game? That sucks, but maybe the next game he plays up to his ability or you make some X's and O's changes to counteract why said player was ineffective. But if the coach hones in on the wrong thing and makes adjustments that put us in an even worse position than before, you can't fix that. The coach needs to change his mind, and that rarely ever happens.

How do you guys think they would have done against the Capitals if they faced them in the first round?

Just as bad if not worse because our problems aren’t matchup based and the Caps are a better team.

Yeah. Hopefully they watch some game film and play with both poise and urgency. There’s still time but only if changes are made

It is uphill from here. The inability to generate sustained offensive pressure means the defense has to play smart. Unfortunately from what I've seen the team generally can barely get it to center ice and more often to an Islander. Unless they find a way to support the puck and get it up ice and keep it there, this won't be a long series.

Either way you need to win 4 games to advance. Doesn’t really matter if it’s the first 4 or the last 4. Every game is a new game with new bounces and new opportunities.

You’re right about the breakout though. I don’t like how low our wingers are coming because it allows their F3 to cut him off and allows the strongside D to continuously hold the blue line at the boards. I would rather see our wingers higher and if we ever manage clear possession then they fly the zone. This sucks the defenders back and makes it easier on our 3 down low. Our execution has just been really really bad. We can talk about it all day, but the guys on the nice need to tighten up or they’ll have a long offseason

Knowing they're home and pretty much have to win or season and dream are in serious danger if they lose next one. Only moderate danger currently.

Ovie leagues his feet and hits a guy in the head and is shocked, absolutely shocked that he’s penalized for it. Oshie with a clear hook and complains the whole way to the box. If nothing else, at least we’re not Caps fans

As far as the first bold goes you’re listening to Mike Rupp and think he knows how to take down Trotz’s system? Listening to mike rupp was your first mistake.

As far as the second bold goes people have been saying the same thing since December.
Just a little win streak they’ll come down to earth.
In January they were saying,
They won’t make the playoffs
In February it was,
Maybe a wild card bubble team.
In March,
They won’t get home ice Lehner and Greiss can’t keep playing like this.
Now in April,
Same old crapola.

Love it😂

You need to slow your roll there crappy! Your team hasn’t made it to the second round in what 20 years? Yes your up 2-0 but don’t count the pens out. To much playoff experience! I know playoff hockey is new to islander fans but you need to chill out!
