He should have been canned in December. |

Good story, bro. - Rinosaur
Nice. You chilled and it’s all good. I just thought that goal specifically was weak. That’s it. Not saying Murray is the reason to losing or like he’s having a bad postseason.
I don’t know what to expect from this team anymore. Disfunctional. |

There were just so many terrible decisions made up and down the coaching staff and the front office. I have no idea where to start with this mess. Was Tochet the secret to this staff’s success? It’s like they morphed into totally different hockey minds after he left. |

I think you have to assume the answer is yes. Continuously outcoached. Someone absolutely nailed it earlier: he is way too slow to react to his opposition. Obviously we’re not done but this collective group ain’t got me believin.

Give credit where it's due, trotz turned this poopty Islanders team into a solid team. Doubt they get past Tampa or Washington. Pens couldnt adjust and deserve to be swept.

Tampa might not make it out of round 1. |

I think if he brings in a new coach it would save his job, otherwise idk. I think we can all agree that this is a huge disappointment and something has to change - WSCTeton17
JRs moves have been all downhill since Botterill left. Really makes me think how much Botts had a day in trades. The JR/Botterill era was built for speed. This team hasn’t had an identity in 2 seasons now |

Sully is now shades of Dan Bylsma territory. Not capable of adjusting to what the other team is doing.
Rutherford needs the first ticket out of town. His trades have been good. But he has had to make trades to fill holes he created through bad free agent signings.
I believe I just heard the window slam shut. |

Why the hell would they change what won them back to back Cups is beyond me. So damn stupid. Starting with the Reaves trade. |

It’s really tough to say but here’s something I can tell you for a fact. I live in Arizona now and I work with some of the Coyotes. They love the guy. He’s extremely positive and does a lot of 1 on 1 time. Sullivan is an army type guy. Often times with those guys you get lots of screaming and people these days just don’t do well with it. Tocchet has been highly criticized during his time here in AZ but it’s extremely evident that he’s been learning and adapting.
I think the lesson there is that we need someone who isn’t going to scream at our guys. Someone smart who builds up his players and isn’t afraid to make adjustments |

Yup, NYI deserves a ton of credit. They are playing sound hockey and not making mistakes unlike the team that they are facing. |

Yeah I definitely wasn’t saying he should be spared, but if he axes HCMS I think he might be |

Which is what Sullivan did his first year here and into his second year. He wasn't a country club coach like Bylsma and always had a disciplinarian streak in him, but he seemed to really take that one on one time and connect with players. What the hell happened to that? |

It's interesting.... I watched game 5 of Pens/Nash the other day. That team wasn't as good as this one, but they made the right decision the whole game. Not one dumb ass pinch at the wrong moment. They were so disciplined. It's not been the same since. Playing that way takes hard work and patience......basically the two things this team hasn't had all season. |

No matter what we should all be able to agree on a few things: a new coach can potentially help a guy like Malkin who previously struggled at 5v5 and has been taking bad penalties, JJ is not good, we never should have traded Cole to appease our coach, Maatta is too slow for the new NHL, some serious thought needs to be put in place from the top down about how we can stay successful with our core for the next 2-3 years first and aim to maintain success thereafter
Does anyone wonder if it was Lemieux who was like “Hey, Rusty.. our 1st in not in play this season so stop pandering it around with other GMs” |

The Pens don't have a good enough roster and most of their talented players (Malkin, kessel and letang) are uncoachable.
Sully hasn't done anything to fix it but this is a pretty mediocre team |

It gets harder to look past someone’s flaws the more you’re around them. I’m sure it’s hard for him too, hard to stay positive after continuously telling guys what they’re doing wrong. I’m sure he’s not an idiot, he’s just not a tactful genius like Trotz |
