This should be over in 5 games max
Probably a sweep if Mike Smith plays well in every game. |

Unless you want to do Andersson or Valimaki for Petterson that is. 👍 |

Mike Smith peaking in game one of the playoffs is fantastic. It's all downhill from here. |

thank you sir. two under 2 is going to be interesting.
i just had a quick look at your guys cap situation next year, and trying to figure out how it all works out. 10 mill in cap space
Tkachuk/Bennett/Mangiapane/Hathaway/Rittich all need extensions. I am assuming Fantenburg and Prout are gone, and Kylington makes the jump, but what do you guys see happening to make space. Tkachuk is going to get 7 mill aav easy. |

Trade away 1 of Frolik or Neal. Playoffs is their real try out to stay, and there are player to slot in with Mangiapane, Dube, and Czarnik.
Trade away Brodie as there is defensive depth with Andersson, Kylingon and Valimaki.
But those two moves are my opinion as that frees up about 9 to 10 mil in cap space. And quite possibly Smith won't be back either. |

Frolik and Neal aren't going to be easy trades, especially without taking on a contract with similar cap back.
Dube and Czarnik can easily replace Frolik and Neal, but dealing them isn't going to be easy. |

I doubt any Flames fans in here are worrying about Tre clearing cap space for next season. Those are next year problems. Let's win the cup first. |

i beg to differ. Playoffs are undoubtedly at the forefront of every flames fans mind, and with good reason, but Treveling is going to have to be shifty with his cap space in a few months, and there is 100% reason to worry, it won't be an easy task. I get that its not a top priority at this moment though with everything else going on. |

That's where you look to the cap floor teams that need to add players to reach that spot. Frolik was almost gone at the deadline. Not saying it will be easy, but I don't think that they will be asking for much back on Frolik if they had to move him.
Also the playoff "audition" may be the reverse. See who steps up to make other teams interested in taking them. And if they have to take a similar contract back then it better be worth taking as the goal is cap space |

Frolik makes $3 million next year (his last year) but with a cap hit of $4.5. A team like Ottawa that's young and rebuilding would take him I think. He's still a decent player. Neal is next to impossible though. |

that Neal contract is about as trade-able as our Louie Ericksson contract. Would be a tough one. |

It will be interesting. I don't think the sens will have any problems hitting the floor as is, they have a bunch of space, but a bunch of contracts to sign. It will be interesting. Dube, Czarnik, Valimaki all seem to be ready and competent to play in the show as well, which is always good. |

*sigh*
I broke all this down like 2 months ago. Our cap space is going to be around 16 mil with the cap going up again.
Alas, I am at work, but I will crunch the numbers again when I get home.

I don’t recognize him Fry. Newbie hoping on the Red Mile Express? Or old guy crawling out from under a rock now that we’re in the playoffs, I don’t know. |
