These people (men and women) aren’t role models - and any parents who point to them as such is doing a disservice to their children.
They are sports stars - entertainers - people to watch for their incredible athletic and competitive skills, but nothing more.
Lots of sleaze in sports, on and off the fields of play.
I’m glad he won because of the entertainment value. - StLBravesFan
Agree, but I hope all golf wannabees don't make it impossible to get a tee time all over again like 20 years ago. |

Islanders playing some good hockey, only 5 SOG for Crosby, Kessel and Malkin
4 guys always in the center of the ice most times between the puck and the goalie |

Islanders beat Pens and they're up 3 games to nothingburger. I love it. Go Isles go. |

I'll go with talented guys who aren't afraid to play in the tough areas on the ice every time. - paulr
That was why Stone made a bundle of cash.
I dismissed him, and then when they signed him, I was like, they look like a rookie organization again spending SO much, but then I went back and he really catches the opposition by surprise, knocks them off pucks, and goes hard in the greasy areas.
It is not a concern on my part, burt I have to wonder, are the hawks gonna rank that over position or player.
I have tried to play devil's advocate with all the negative about Russian additions, including the our last one, if we would have not traded him, might have decided to be saying goodbye to the Windy City now, if he WAS still here?
...and hear tell, I have seen comments that Podkolzin is undisciplined in the way he basically bulls in, knocks opposition off the puck, plays with them in his solo displays of power powering dominance, that a team player doesn't play like that.
Through all the generations of NHL play i have watched, didn't the best decide to take over games?
So as I rack my feeble hockey head concerning the poor hawks having to actually have make a talent decision, I see they are looking for:
a) long term new face of the franchise
b) a kid that adds to the arsenal and brings offensive pressure
c) foot speed, hand & stick speed, head speed
d) 200 foot game ability
If this was the 2018 draft, Brady Tkachuk would have solved the decision in my mind.
It's kinda too bad that Mark Kelley and company will have to decide the order the above bullet points follow...

Hey Wiz, both Cozens and Turcotte meet your A/B/C/D criteria - don't they?

You need enough physical play to engage in and win board battles, establish and maintain position at the net, move opponents away from your goalie.
You don’t need the bone crushing checks (nice if you can get them, not necessary fo4 victory); you certainly don’t need the brutality of Charo. You certainly don’t need the stupidity of Kadri and Kucherov. - StLBravesFan
One thing all 3 Cup teams had in common was that they had guys willing and able to stand tall in the face of withering pressure, and to take a hit to make the right play. That, to me, is the ultimate display of hockey toughness, both mentally and physically. |

That’s a primary reason to get away from the man to man defense and back to coverage of the danger areas and never abandoning the slot.
Ideally have 2 in or around the slot because one alone is easy for the other team to exploit by having a shooter creep in a weak or unguarded area for an uncontested scoring chance. |

Especially 4 on 4.
How does the official go from calling a penalty (assuming it was for GI), to calling it a good goal? |

That may have been the most bizarre 5-10 minutes of hockey/replay I've ever seen. Call the goalie for tripping, after the interference, but the interference wasn't a penalty, but it happened, so no goal. |

Back to the Hawks...what about fixing our D by giving a really large 1 year contract to Stralman. We have space for 1 more year, but then we need space to sign ADB and Strome the next year. Giving Stralman more 2M more for a one year contract may get him to sign with us, and give our young D prospects another year to get ready for the show. |

Unless Chicago was the only team making Stralman an offer, and that is very unlikely, why would a good veteran free agent sign a one year contract? |

Absolutely, 100% correct. Every word. Hammer and the rest of the defense lived up to that standard continuously. |
