Yep, if Federov would have been GM we would have been able to land Jagr. Stoopid Laffs.

I know..
Can't change the past now... We're stuck with Shanahan, Dubas, Babcock, Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Andersen, Rielly, Kadri, and Nylander..
We blew our chance at getting Jagr and Federov |

#TBT: Everything was unfolding as it should for the @MapleLeafs in Boston. With a 4-1 lead and half a period to go, they were destined for the 2nd round. Then suddenly, they weren't.
An oral history on the epic Meltdown in Beantown, from @HunterHockey:
#notthisyear - Symba.007
My wife and I were madly phoning around, trying to arrange babysitting.
The Leafs were going to host the Rangers two days later.
Yeah, we would have had home ice in the 2nd round.
Because the #2 seed choked to the Rangers.
I can't seem to remember who that was... |

"Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings – November 29
First, let’s state the obvious: The Oilers would have won this lottery and every other one for all of eternity by just not trading Taylor Hall.
They also could have dropped into the Rangers’ No. 26 spot by losing one extra game. Meanwhile, the Kings finished one point back of the Devils for that lottery-winning No. 29 slot and would have held the tiebreaker, so they were one more win away from picking first overall.
That means we can find another two-fer, flipping both picks by changing an Oilers win over the Kings to a loss. We could find one as recently as March 26, when the Oilers won an 8-4 shootout that felt meaningless at the time. But just to twist the knife a little harder, let’s go back to Nov. 29.
The Kings were in Edmonton, and fell behind 2-0 early before fighting back to tie it up late in the first. It stayed that way until the third period, when the game starts to take on that distinct “next goal wins” vibe. That next goal ended up being scored by the Kings, as a Tyler Toffoli centering pass takes a bad bounce and sneaks by Mikko Koskinen.
But wait! New Edmonton coach Ken Hitchcock calls for an offside challenge. The officials took a look, and decided that this view is conclusive enough to overrule the call on the ice.
The goal came off the board. Late in the third, Oscar Klefbom scored to give the Oilers a 3-2 regulation win. If Toffoli’s goal counts and the lead holds up the rest of the way, the Kings move up to 29th and win the first-overall pick while the Oilers drop to 26th and get the second choice. But none of that happened, thanks to a coach’s challenge and a fuzzy freeze-frame.
CLASSIC! |
