Lets discuss trading for Adam Fox, yes I know he will be a FA August 2020, but I am of the opinion we should get him here now.
Here are 3 proposals to consider:
1) Jimmy Vesey straight up for Fox. Carolina needs scoring, this might interest them.
2) Neil Pionk and a 4th Round pick. Carolina replaces Fox with a young defenseman.
3) Assuming Tampa wins the Cup ---- Rangers send #31 overall and a lesser prospect like Steven Fogarty for Carolinas #36. Rangers move back all of 5 spots and then pick back to back in 2nd round. Hurricanes get to save face and claim they got a first rounder for Fox.
Thoughts? - TommyGTrain
IMO, you are greatly over-estimating what it will take to get Fox. I think it's pretty clear he is not signing in Carolina. Whoever trades for him has them over a barrel.

That being said, I would like to seem him in the fold this summer. I'd like to think it wouldn't cost us a roster player.

I'm ok with bringing Hayes back. Having the centers be Zib, Hayes, Chytil and Howden. Just need to move Vesey and Vlad. - tomburton99
Vlad doesn't make sense as a 4th liner, I see him more likely to be moved
Vesey could be ok on the 4th line with Lemieux and Howden, but I really dont care any more, if he were dealt I would think about it for more than 20 seconds |

Yea if they bring in a top FA then Vlad's 4 million salary should be moved rather than on the 4th line |

Even thought it would be somewhat of an overpayment, I wonder if Carolina would just give us Fox if we gave them Vlad. I think Names brings some stuff to the table, but getting his 4 million off the books would help us in UFA. |

only thing with Vlad is that I think his teammates like him and may be a good mentor the the young Russians

From what all the coaches have said over the years, the way he keeps in shape...he is a freak. He could last longer than most power forwards - TPC

I think he is a great locker room/leader type. He is also showing some flashes of offensive upside. He is a great PK guy and works on any line. |

No, I don't irrationally love him.
His cap hit is 1.85, is that too much? What could you see him topping out at? Around 2.5-2.75? Pretty cheap to me.
My Kreider is Lundqvist. |

It's nice that our first pick doesn't really have a debate. It's one of the top guys.
We haven't talked at all about the Jets pick. Who do people like? I don't want get ahead of myself and ask about Tampa or Dallas' picks yet. |

Interesting...
I'm not surprised, but I like Vesey's upside more than Fast. Fast might be the better bottom 6 role player, but Vesey has more potential to move up the lineup if needed. |

Vesey might have more offensive upside for sure. But I don't think we have seen the best Fast has to offer. Fast can also move up and down as needed. I would consider him a better fit to hold onto a lead late too. |

Fast has been in the league for 6 years. He's been given every opportunity, from playing on the top line to wearing the A. He is what he is. |

I am pretty much done with Vesey...if he stays whatever, if he goes its fine. He is not part of this teams core |
