they both are playing tournaments before the draft, and it may actually come down to these tournaments what makes Devils make their final decision

I am sure they are dying to see Jack Hughes healthy on international stage

- jimbro83

If Georgie will have a good WC tourney, it would be tempting to package him with a late 1st, a top6 roster player and Pionk or Skjei to get an elite player - maybe a RHD...

Jan didn't write the article, he was merely posting it. If possible, you should read the entire thing.

I think Georgie's trade value is really high right now and although I really like the guy, I think they should strike while the iron is hot with him and trade him at draft

this all assuming Shesty is coming over, and this guy has been so hyped for long, I expect him to be 2005 Lundqvist in the flesh

- jimbro83

I don't disagree with anything you stated, but what is Georgie worth in a trade? Typically, goalies don't get a great return when traded. I am thinking I would rather keep him and watch him continue to grow rather than get a 3rd round pick in a trade.

I know I'm a little late, but I gotta think Shesterkin starts the year in Hartford. Georgiev and Lundqvist are gonna battle for the starters net here. The whole reason I don't want them to draft Spencer Knight is just because you can only have so many goalies

Georgiev & Lundqvist in New York. Shesterkin and Halversson in Hartford. Wall might leave college soon. Huska needs a net, that'll probably be in Maine. Then Olaf is in Europe. Where is there a spot for Knight?

Hank's a Free Agent and Shesty should be on an ELC, so why would Georgiev even be exposed?

He would be the only one that fulfilled the rules for exposure

At MSG if he's the best one of the group, but I get what you're saying.

The piece on the Rangers from the column:

New York Rangers – January 10

Another winner that makes things easy for us, as one extra win or one more regulation loss moves them out of their lucky No. 26 spot. That gives you most of their 2018-19 schedule to choose from.

I’m going to go with a game from Jan. 10, because rivalries are fun and it also gives me a chance to include some old friends in this piece. On that day, I wrote a post about New York Islanders fans, and their season-long complaint that the team wasn’t getting enough respect. While we were all politely debating that point, the Isles happened to be at MSG to face their archrivals in the first game of a home-and-home.

They didn’t get off to a good start, as former Islander Ryan Strome scored for the Rangers just a minute in, but the game turned into a tight one and was tied 3-3 late in the third. That’s when Cal Clutterbuck found Josh Bailey with a cross-ice pass, with Bailey beating Henrik Lundqvist for the winner with just over a minute left. It was the Islanders first shot on goal of the entire period.
After the game, Rangers coach David Quinn called the loss “heartbreaking,” adding that in terms of the most disappointing games of the season, ”It might be at the top of the list.”

In hindsight, maybe not. If the Rangers end up winning that game, they move up to 25th place, and it’s the Oilers who drop to 26th and end up picking second overall. So if you’re a Rangers fan headed out to buy a Kaapo Kakko jersey today, don’t forget to stop and thank an Islanders fan for making it happen.

As the basis for the Draft Lottery's #2 pick selection result, why use an unrelated January 10th Rangers loss to the Isles, despite it being disappointing due to dominating the Isles in play, but yielding their GWG in the final 2 minutes on their only 3rd period SOG?

So why not base it on the two head to head match ups of both teams it came down to for that #2 pick, and in key by using the more recent game played on March 11th at Edmonton? Had the Oilers lost in OT (or a shootout) to the Rangers that night instead of defeating them 3-2 on Draisaitl's GWG seconds into OT, the Rangers in exact contrast, would have been the ones ending with 79 points in 25th, and the Oilers in 26th at 78 points to win the #2 selection instead.

The Oilers also won the first match up 2-1 at MSG in mid October. A 3rd period Rangers holding penalty to Namestnikov which should have instead been a penalty called on an Oiler player for taking Namestnikov down, resulted in the Oilers breaking the 1-1 tie on a game winning PPG by McDavid. But unknown back then, justice ended up being received in the end by the Rangers over them at the Draft Lottery as the result of just one of those 2 losses to the Oilers.

Because every team MUST expose 1 goalie with a minimum of a certain number of NHL games played.
- Tonybere

iii) One goaltender who is under contract in 2017-18 or will be a restricted free agent at the expiration of his current contract immediately prior to 2017-18. If the club elects to make a restricted free agent goaltender available in order to meet this requirement, that goaltender must have received his qualifying offer prior to the submission of the club's protected list.

They are not losing anyone. They'll sign Tokarski to a One way contract. Let's move on to the next topic to beat to death!

The bottom line with Hank this past season is that he was likely burned out to some extent by its halfway point, due to Quinn over using him from the season's start during a rebuild year. Still then at age 36, Hank started 30 of the team's first 41 games, including making starts in 4 consecutive games one time, and 5 consecutive games twice. In the latter half, Quinn started Hank for no more than 3 consecutive games.

The opposition's dominance in play in the Rangers zone in the vast majority of games, along with Hank's hard work ethic during practice, plus his past seasons' wear and tear including his numerous postseason games played in, has begun to show its toll. With Hank now 37, I see next season for now with Georgiev being given his chance to start 50 games minimum, with Hank being his backup, both barring any goalie move, such as possibly Shesterkin arriving at some point on board.

I read it. But I feel it makes more sense to take the two head to head match ups of the Rangers and Oilers who were the only two teams having the possibility of finishing in either the 25th and 26th positions heading into the season's final day.

Lets discuss trading for Adam Fox, yes I know he will be a FA August 2020, but I am of the opinion we should get him here now.
Here are 3 proposals to consider:

1) Jimmy Vesey straight up for Fox. Carolina needs scoring, this might interest them.

2) Neil Pionk and a 4th Round pick. Carolina replaces Fox with a young defenseman.

3) Assuming Tampa wins the Cup ---- Rangers send #31 overall and a lesser prospect like Steven Fogarty for Carolinas #36. Rangers move back all of 5 spots and then pick back to back in 2nd round. Hurricanes get to save face and claim they got a first rounder for Fox.

Thoughts?
