Wrong. You force Hank to retire or accept a trade, plug in someone they could lose to exspansion and have Gorgie and Shesty as your 1-2.. Suck it

You know I was thinking if they tell Hank Georgie is the starter next year, he might request a trade. He loves playing and I couldn't see him wanting to be a back up

I don't want Hank gone but that is a possibility.

I want him back and beginning the season as the starter. I know everyone probably hates this opinion but IDGAF.

Shesty is the same age now that Henrik was when he came over and Hank played 53 games his rookie season

The piece on the Rangers from the column:

New York Rangers – January 10

Another winner that makes things easy for us, as one extra win or one more regulation loss moves them out of their lucky No. 26 spot. That gives you most of their 2018-19 schedule to choose from.

I’m going to go with a game from Jan. 10, because rivalries are fun and it also gives me a chance to include some old friends in this piece. On that day, I wrote a post about New York Islanders fans, and their season-long complaint that the team wasn’t getting enough respect. While we were all politely debating that point, the Isles happened to be at MSG to face their archrivals in the first game of a home-and-home.

They didn’t get off to a good start, as former Islander Ryan Strome scored for the Rangers just a minute in, but the game turned into a tight one and was tied 3-3 late in the third. That’s when Cal Clutterbuck found Josh Bailey with a cross-ice pass, with Bailey beating Henrik Lundqvist for the winner with just over a minute left. It was the Islanders first shot on goal of the entire period.
After the game, Rangers coach David Quinn called the loss “heartbreaking,” adding that in terms of the most disappointing games of the season, ”It might be at the top of the list.”

In hindsight, maybe not. If the Rangers end up winning that game, they move up to 25th place, and it’s the Oilers who drop to 26th and end up picking second overall. So if you’re a Rangers fan headed out to buy a Kaapo Kakko jersey today, don’t forget to stop and thank an Islanders fan for making it happen.

I think it's more likely he retires before he asks for a trade.

I really do think next year is his last year. One thing though guys, even if he does retire, you still have to get someone else to expose for expansion purposes.

Which team would want to trade for Hank at this point in his career? He has a less than optimal contract and is showing some slippage in his game. Plus the Rangers would take a HUGE PR hit ----- unfortunately, I think we are stuck with him. The only realistic possibility I could see would be him retiring, and I think thats doubtful.

I wonder if you could just sign some washed up poopheap to a 1 year deal at the league veteran minimum and the buy him out immediately after the expansion draft

I'm on a trial now. I clicked to cancel it to see what would happen and it extended it to 14 days. At the end of that I can get it for 40% off if I want.

It's good so far. The Ray Emery article was especially good.

- JRR1285

Yeah, the Emery article was great. Really sad outcome.

I just don't want to lose Georgie cause Hanks ego, which is what is probably going to happen.

Hank was probably one of the best things to happen to this organization over the last decade, and he will be loved by all Ranger fans, but if we want to get younger and rebuild, it should be Georgies team next year

You'd have Olaf and Huska potentially still in our system, but you'd need a Hartford goalie.

When you are the alpha, you'll have an ego. I don't blame Hank for thinking he can still do it, just like I wouldn't blame Brodeur. I'd still like to see Georgia get 50 games if Shesty isn't on our opening roster.

What makes you so sure we lose Georgie? Much can happen as far as the expansion draft goes --- maybe we wind up sending Seattle a pick to select someone else...

Teams learned from Vegas that was a bad idea. Not only did Vegas get all that draft capital, teams often paid them to select someone really good, William Karlsson and Shea Theodore as examples.

Yeah, that would be the only way. But then you are also blocking Shesty. Its just not a great situation all around

I think Georgie's trade value is really high right now and although I really like the guy, I think they should strike while the iron is hot with him and trade him at draft

this all assuming Shesty is coming over, and this guy has been so hyped for long, I expect him to be 2005 Lundqvist in the flesh

Hank's a Free Agent and Shesty should be on an ELC, so why would Georgiev even be exposed?

It was more of a conceptual thought. I'm just too lazy to go look up the expansion draft rules

What if he stinks???

I know it's far-fetched, but could you imagine either Hughes or Kakko suffering a major injury before the draft? OMG, that would suck!

they both are playing tournaments before the draft, and it may actually come down to these tournaments what makes Devils make their final decision

I am sure they are dying to see Jack Hughes healthy on international stage

Because every team MUST expose 1 goalie with a minimum of a certain number of NHL games played.
