Some of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Players won't tank to get slightly better odds at the team getting an elite player who will bump them down the lineup. They have their own lives and their own contracts to worry about.

Not to mention almost every player who makes it to the NHL level has this crazy thing called pride.

You want a fan base to cheer for a team... Maybe declaring yourselves out of the playoff hunt isn't the best idea. I'm assuming that once you declare yourselves out of the playoffs you can't end up making the playoffs. That's not exactly motivational for the players our the fans.

The current draft system and lottery is the least rewarding ever for bottom teams. The last place team used to be guaranteed the last pick. Then the lottery was introduced and they were guaranteed 2nd pick.

Now the last place teem has a fifty percent change of picking fourth.
