Is Point the same player on the Sabres as he is on the Bolts?
- Powerslave

He's a pure line driver. So yes. Maybe not 90 points, but if he's as effective as Eichel, on top of his ability to roll through high danger opportunities, even at 80 points, you at least consider it.

Laine had a bad year, and even with his 30 goals, he was a negative impact player. He will have better years, that is of little doubt. He's still not worth 3 1st round picks, especially with a top 10 and a potential lottery pick next year.
- TheSabresTaco

If we trade for laine I’m not expecting us to be in the lottery that’s a move that’s saying hey we aren’t (frank)ing around

If we did I would never forgive myself

Your getting a guy that will get you 30-50g a year if that’s the price so be it

Players like him become available once in a decade you Trade for him

- gerbe75pts

not with 3 1sts.. we could offer sheet marner (who is better) and give up barely more than that

The point was more about replacing Girgs and Larry on line 4 and having a productive line 4.
Doing so through building a strong get middle 6. I think that strategy accomplishes that.

To answer your question directly, I see 3 good options.
I really like Olofson and Jack together, so now they need a #1 RW since I have Sam as 2RW.
Further, I do see Skinner and Olofsson as interchangeable. But... ( I know you love those "...")
1) Be bold. Package 7OA, 25th-sh, Nylander, and say next years 2nd for 2OA. At 2nd, draft Kakko.
(Add/change as required within reason

- IonSabres[Borgen, Bogo, etc])
2) Acquire a RW in FA.
3) Trade for one. Toffoli, Teams w Cap issues

3 is easier said than done, but several teams "up against it" could be opportunities.

Of all the above, number 1 is not happening.

I have Krebs ranked top 10. Could be in the option for our pick. If you like Sam you’d love Krebs. Played on a Kootenany team that won 15 of 65 games this year and put up points similarly to Dach. Can play Centre or wing and scouts rave about his 200 ft game and leadership (selected as captain of U18 team)
- Pegullaville

The more I've read into Krebs the more I've liked him. Only guy behind him for me, though, is the Ruskie

So you think Patrik Laine is the difference between lottery and playoffs

That's for sure. Sometimes GMs are coy about what they want to do with their picks, but Botts came out and said publicly he's not moving it*

I think Botterill said they have 3 names. My guess -mcclellan, Vigneault and Martin

Fun little do-dad.. Jeff Skinner was defensively more reliable than Ovechkin.

I think that speaks to the general apathy surrounding the available candidates.

My preference is Vigneault, but that's like saying I prefer flavored rice cakes to plain ones. A little better, but still a rice cake

I ask, because I don't see many TB games.

3 firsts is a lot, though.

I think people can find fault with every candidate out there.

No matter who we get, Botts has to get that guy more horses.

I bet one of the first questions each candidate will have is, "are you bringing Skinner back?".

yessuh. I'd be frightened he'd turn out like Crouse. They're not exactly the same player, and the ceiling for Krebs is much higher. But the offense is too low. Personally I think Krebs will have a much more fruitful career than Crouse. I never understood the hype with that kid.
- TheSabresTaco

I just don't see "it" with him where Dach and Zegras have more swagger out there, look more polished and they have more tenacity on the puck. All seem to have decent passing ability.

He certainly did it all by himself on that Koot team, but yeah, I think he's the one most likely to bust out.

I still want Gronborg, but wish in one hand and poop in the other. We just had a rookie coach, so i would almost guarantee Botterill won't go that route again

None of us literally have no idea how any single person would handle coaching the Sabres.
