I'd prefer Nashville to be bounced this round so that 2nd round pick can be a mid 2nd and not later. But I'll be so happy for Boyle if he wins. Rooting for SJ though. - MartysBetter88
Rooting for TB to get bounced to minimize the Ranger's conditional pick from the Ryan McDonagh trade. It's a second rounder but if TB wins the cup it becomes a first rounder.... albeit the last pick of the first round. Still, (frank) them. |

Rumors are that Yakovlev is heading back to Russia. Wish we would have played him more and been able to keep him. I don't blame him for wanting to leave - djsnippets
Yak is a completely unrestricted free agent. If he's unhappy we jerked him around for most of the year he can sign with any club that he thinks (or offers) to play him more. He may want to go back to Russia to go back to Russia. |

Offer has to start with Pettersson or not even answering the phone.

Lets think about this...
Why would he not want to sign?
1. We are young but getting really talented pretty quick.
2. H-H-H
3. Butch, Sev, Smith on back
4. Vet in Cory and future goal in Blackwood
5. NJ is nice place for families (especially the rich ones)
6. Close to NY but not quite NY taxes
7. We have the cap
8. He's a swede, played whole career in Canada - could almost guarantee he hates the hot weather. (I been in NJ my whole life and already sick of the LA heat, so thats a thing.)
Thoughts? |

I'm still hesitant about the foot. He's playing well right now, but I still feel like he lost a few years of being awesome because of the surgery.
1. We're not contenders
2. Nico hasn't broke 50pts yet
3. Butch and Sev are average and Smith is unproven
4. Blackwood and Cory are both prayers that they'll remain this good next season.
5/6. NJ is OKAY to live. It's overpriced like crazy. "Not quite" NY taxes doesn't say much. Murphy is taxing freaking RAIN. RAIN!!! (frank)ing moron. I think they're trying to rebuttal that or whatever it's called.
7. yes we do
8. meh. some people like heat. they're almost as crazy as Murphy.

I agree with all that but I think it could come down to whether or not he thinks the Devils will be a champion team within the next few years. Same thing goes for Hall. I dont want to be the party pooper, because it's nice that we got the 1st overall, but we still need to sign Hall long term. He didn't seem convinced at the press conference. Hopefully Shero can get it done but I'm nervous. |

I mean getting EK would be great, but where does that leave us? Either older Greene or brand new Smith on the left side. Vatanen will be in his last season this year. We could keep him and have a great right side D.. or trade him and roll with Butcher-Carrick as the 3rd pair, which I'm ok with.
Greene?-EK
Smith?-Vatanen
Butcher-Severson
Carrick as 7th |

No way Greene on top line. Move him to 3rd pair. Or better, water boy. Or better, go the Clowe route, stay behind the bench and whisper sweet nothings into the players' ears. |

Yeah i agree with this. EK would be great to have in our lineup, and would give us the #1 D we desperately need, but that's a lot of term/money to commit to guy on a completely reconstructed ankle, you have no idea if he'd even be able to make it through the contract length, plus he's been dealing with multiple other injuries on top of that this year that caused him to miss like 30 games.
Also, Nico broke 50 points last season, and would've done it this year too if not for his injury, as his PPG pace was actually better this season |

Speaking of breaking points, I had no idea barkov was that good. Broke Bure's 95 pt year. Barkov and Panarin could be fun to watch for the Panthers. |

Oh yeah, if Panarin ends up there then Panthers fans have a ton to be excited about. Barkov is an absolute beast, he's the definition of a complete 200ft player, he needs way more consideration for the Selke |

Yes please. Butcher. I think its time he takes a bigger role. 3 seasons straight of being sheltered and stuff, eh. Playing alongside EK would do wonders for him I think. |

Fully expecting him to completely dominate this tournament! I hope he gets invited and plays in the World Championships, I think Hynes is an assistant coach on the USA team |

I was watching regular video of him, not just highlights. He gets hit pretty good, cross checked in neck, etc... but he gets right back up and back at it. That is awesome to see. Crosby would have stayed down and wait for a call. I wonder if I underestimated how important this kiddo is. |

Yeah he's a battler for sure. He's definitely on the smaller side, but he'll put on weight. On the US roster announcement they have him listed at 5'11 170, they have have added an inch and some weight to him but maybe not? He's still only 17, and dominates at the junior and college level, even last season as a 16 year old, he dominated both the USHL and NCAA against guys 3-6 years older than him, they're both pretty physical and heavy leagues too tbh. They said Nico was too small as well, and look how he's been. Does he get knocked off of pucks sometimes? Sure, but its really not an issue as some people made it seem like it'd be. He's only going to get stronger, and better lol.
Jack may be on the smaller side, but you cannot deny his skating is on a completely different level than most people will ever get to, and he's a wizard with the puck on his stick. He might not ever be a prolific goal scorer(not saying he cant score, he may never put up a 40+ goal season, but he can most likely be a consistent 25-30 goal scorer), and man he's an elite play maker and makes everybody around him better. A 1-2 punch of him and Nico down the middle for the next decade is waaay too good to pass up imo, and a great combo to build around |
