Ahhhhh I'm slow on the uptake, you'll have to excuse me but you have to understand I'm Canadian and I'm not very smart. So because you exposed Bettman's bias against the Blackhawks he had no alternative but to give the Hawks the 3rd overall just so you'd leave him alone. That's brilliant PE! You're one step ahead of everyone. - paulr

Cap increases? - ToewsdNKanefusd
The cap is suppose to increase 3.5M next year to 83M. ER bumped it up another 2.5M to 85.5M for 20-21. That may be a bit low.

Yeah I'd like to see the Hawks trade the 3rd pick to Columbus for the rights to Panarin. Then sign Panarin to a max deal. That will solve all our problems ! (Complete Sarcasm for da meatheads ) - mmurray892
Panarin and Kane together again would be nice, but for me 2 things i want, top 4 dman and a shut down center. These 2 things will make our pk so much better. |

I see...just forgot what the current cap number was, and so wasn't sure if he accounted for that. If they could somehow trade Seabs by then, it would significantly help, so I am betting that will be what the hawks try to do at some point in the next couple of years. |

Could the Hawks try to convince Seabs to retire with the guarantee that he would get some sort of coaching position? For what I have read and seen of Seabs, he seems like he would be perfect for coaching. Is that something that is even allowed by the league, or would it have to be some sort of under the table guarantee? |

sheesh... Everyone just wants Seabrook to retire or be gone. My best guess is that Stan would have to convince him to remove the NTC. I think he would be perfect for the Seattle Rusty Cages to take him in the expansion draft with a little bit of bribery from Stan. Seattle would reach the cap floor easier, have a solid veteran D man and can put the C on his sweater.
Speaking of... From this current roster, who is subject to be put in the expansion draft pool?? |

Oh he won't. He'll retire, forfeit his salary to retire then sign a coaching deal for $500K a season. |

To me kahun needs a big year for him to get 3 million per year, dcat most likely going to get 7-8 strome 5-6. Most likely also the cap will go up 3million and how did the cap raise in the last expansion draft I believe it was 5 million so lets say that happens that is 8 million over the next 2 years and will continue to rise hopefully every year after that 3 to 5 million. Plus the nhl has the cba looming this year if both sides decide to opt out. I m on board with drafting cozens or turcott unless kappo or hughes does not fall to 3. All depends what N.Y. does they have good culture for Russian players, plus I see the breadman going to N.Y. instead of Florida. Still the idea of boilermaker idea of eakin and miller/mcnabb from vegas. Unless the hawks can get a Pesce for saad deal done then hawks should keep saad because be a better team with him instead without him just one more hole to fill. |

So not feasible then, got it. I don't think I would give up the money either, just wondering if it was at all a possibility.
Or what about LTIR. If he has some nagging injury (back?), then that could work, no? |

Alot of people want Seabs to retire or get traded but its not like any of the younger defenseman are forcing him out with their play. If he goes, things will get worse until those guys truly develop and produce |

Lightning blow lead. Once again, an example of how you have to play 60 minute games.
Dallas and Stl win, I have them both winning their series. And regardless of outcome, Do hawk fans really believe the Hawks are way off of those teams? Basically any team in the central?
Calgary will have their hands full with Colorado.
Got to love playoff hockey. |

Also an example of how important defense is in today's game just as it was in yesteryears game. Tampa's sloppy defense is the main reason they lost. Hedman looked brutal on a few plays. I don't expect this will occur again. I expect Cooper to focus on that aspect of the game. I guarantee the tapes the team is watching today are highlighting the defensive breakdowns and not how they scored their goals.
And yes the Hawks are a long way off from being a contender. The reason ..... Very poor defense both defensemen and forwards and by extention team defense. |

I just don't see anyway the Hawks bring him (Crawford) back once his contract expires. It opens up cap space to sign the young guys. Plus, his history of injury too. I think they go with Delia and someone else at a lower cost. - onehundredlevel
He played 55+ games 7 years in a row (and won 2 cups). His injuries the last two years were directly related to 2 specific hits he took. He played 13 games in a row just recently. If he plays 55+ games next year at a very high level I would think the Hawks would have to consider giving him another contract depending on what options they have to replace him and what his asking price is. You don't win cups without very good goaltending. Delia has not proven himself to be "the man" just yet.
