It feels like its been a really long wait since they played on Saturday. Its crazy that the NBA starts like a month after the NHL, and the playoff start only a couple days later. The NHL really knows how to elongate their season

NHL players need a bit more rest then NBA players do.

They dont have the Union bye week no, but its also they play games more frequently through the holiday season too, like games on christmas. I hate the bye week in hockey.

Plus, I wouldn't be shocked at all if they weren't as good next season. Unless, they add something good this offseason (Panarin). If they keep the status quo, I think they'll be worse.

It has to do in part to the physicality of hockey over basketball. Does Basketball have a players' union mandated bye week? I have no clue on that.
