Moving up 5 spots was pretty amazing - should have known the Sens pick (or anything to do with that franchise this year) was jinxed. Should be an excellent player despite his name. Chicago did not too bad as well.
Habs? - winsix
turns out the Sens probably made the right decision to keep last years 4th! who would've guessed that... |

They had something like a 50.5% chance of picking 4th again.

It was more likely that they'd pick 4th again this year, just like last year, if they had the worst record.
And the odds of them having the worst record were not 100% before the season started. So the odds of them picking in the top 3 at the draft last year probably much lower than 50%. |

My last sentence was a bit confusing.
What I meant was at the time of last years draft, the chances of them picking in the top 3 at this years draft were much lower than 50%.
I think you knew what I meant though |

Closer than you think! its a coin flip. Avs had a 50.6% chance of picking 4th and 49.4% chance of pick 3rd or better. They got it up the hoop!

Yes sir, Marner will lead the round in penalty minutes and Backes and Chara will have Lady Byngesque type playoffs.

No it’s not closer than I thought. I literally said a few post before that they had something like a 50.5% chance of picking 4th.
If at last years draft you expected them to have a 50.6% chance of picking 4th, you’re assuming Ottawa was going to finish last, which is a huge assumption (especially in the NHL). I’ll grant you that assumption for one second. In that case, it was still likely they pick 4th so if they like Tkachuk over what they expected to be at 4 this year, then it was the right choice to make regardless. But, at last years draft, you’d have to factor in the chances of them finishing last in the league. There were some truly terrible teams. You’d have to take that in to account, which would bring the 50.6% chance of picking 4th (or even lower ala LA last night) up quite a bit. You can’t assume st last years draft that Ottawa was going to finish last. It doesn’t work that way. |

It was a fun playoff though wasn't it.. We got to see a whole bunch of media folk trash the Maple Leafs..
Well, except for Craig Button, which is weird.. I thought he would pick the Booins too, but he actually thinks Leafs will win the series. I fully expect TSN to fire him tomorrow morning - PatC80
No no no, don't you know that all the media is pro-Toronto? That's why they invent stories about McDavid being unhappy in Edmonton. It's all just a MSM deep-state plot to get McDavid playing in Toronto... |

It feels like its been a really long wait since they played on Saturday. Its crazy that the NBA starts like a month after the NHL, and the playoff start only a couple days later. The NHL really knows how to elongate their season |

The only concern with that is, has he ever been right about anything?
Also, apparently Cassidy is going with his faster lineup against the Leafs, not his tougher one. Weird, but good for the Leafs. |

I have no clue on that.
Edit: The bold, although stated as a fact, was meant as more of a question |

They dont have the Union bye week no, but its also they play games more frequently through the holiday season too, like games on christmas. I hate the bye week in hockey.
