Couple seasons ago, I said the same thing about Canadian players and got my ass chewed out in here. Funny how the reverse doesn't happen.

I see more & more American kids standing out & have caught up to us.

When it comes to Finland they produce top wingers & D. Pretty good for a smaller nation.

Sweden tends to produce good C’s & D.

Russia i only give them wingers. Tells me they like scoring only & less so playing 200’ hockey. I question their intensity other than those who become superstars. They do have elite players but always wingers. OV Kucherov Tarasenko are my examples.

USA has a great program in place & produce at every position.

In Canada it’s either franchise players or risk/reward it seems. D imo is where safer picks are found & can be gold. Chabot

Has to be directly correlated to how the program has really grown down here.

Canada needs to copy the NTDP paradigm. Have your best talents developing together & building chemistry for future Olympic teams. Guys like Dach & Krebs would look so much better playing with each other rather than the scrubs they’re stuck with on their respective junior teams.

Don't forget Finland producing a disproportionately large number of goaltenders

CHL is great competition but so many teams waters down the product & less likely to maximize their development.

Meh. You have top 10 picks playing with random late round picks/undrafted overagers. We’ll see over the next decade what kind of dominance their program enables while we’re left in the dust.

Gaudette to EPs wing. Hughes second line Center with Pearson and Leivo. Horvat becomes the most elite 3lc the league has ever seen with again more not so great wingers and Van wins multiply cups in the next decade with JB at the helm for all of them.

I trade mark this post so no changing is allowed.

- manvanfan

Sounds good! At least you got Horvat playing where he should!

I was enjoying that. How was that ban worthy?

At least it got me back into reading my novel collection again.

It’s been trending that way for years, they’ll be on par with Canada soon enough and a threat to pass us

They need do do something a little different, that is for sure.
They could start by dissolving the CHL and form an elite junior league, as the CHL has become a problem in several areas, like players not being eligible for AHL unless they have completed x amount of time in the league, plus far too many teams, that range in age from sometimes 15 year olds, up to 20 year olds.
Need too be tiered by age/ talent level.

Every ban is worthy, I reduce my Vantel intake.

That’s what mediocrity does. Only few rise out of the dust & makes drafting so much harder for Canadians. Every other nations players seemingly are easier to get a bead on.
