Not to beat a dead horse...

CURRENT 2019 Draft Order
http://www.tankathon.com/nhl/mock_draft
see selection 20 with St Louis pick going to Anaheim since it qualifies (20 - 31) for the Montour Trade Conditions

Determining Draft Order of Playoff Teams

Draft Order: The 14 teams who did not make the playoffs are eligible for the draft lottery, with the teams with lower total regular sesason points receiving more number combinations, and the winner gets the first overall pick. The rest of the picks are determined by reverse order of elimination from the playoffs, with the Stanley Cup winner receiving the last pick. For teams that were eliminated in the same round, the teams with the lower regular season point total gets the higher pick. All of the subsequent rounds are ordered in the same manner

Yep except there’s 15 teams that didn’t qualify for the playoffs. 16 make it 15 don’t.

Not looking to pick a fight, but for the last few years the Sabres have picked pretty high (top 10) just like Edmonton (though there was an anomaly of going to the finals) and it doesn't seem to be helping maybe time for a different strategy? I know the Rangers had the youngest team this year, but you guys had to be close right? is this what a 6 year rebuild so far? might wanna add some free agent pieces.

We paid Okposo and Moulson $11m this year

What FA's will come here after seeing this embarrassment over the years.
- SABRES 89

the Rangers were a dumpster fire for like 10 years, granted its NYC and any schmuck would want to be there, but they also gotta have fire to win some what right?

sometimes GMs gotta take into account who is playing with whom before giving out stupid contracts and then complain about it and cause a work stoppage.

Okposo ranks high on their best UFA signings. Like pham reminds us all the time, it's silly season. It's not how you fix a team.

Nolan Pratt
James Patrick

Hmmmm it would seem maybe just maybe they should stay away from UFA forwards.

Agreed. Almost all FA contracts are bad value because almost all are major overpays. The trick is to do them when you've already built the rest of your team. By then you are already pretty close, maybe 1 or 2 pieces away, after making all your picks and trading all your assets. So you essentially hedge your risk against the signing being a dud by already being a contender.

We know we suck and we recognize why we suck. The team has a poopload of flaws. Everyone knows it. The problem is fixing it and bringing in the right players. And developing others. Even when you're on the right track, that still takes a while. We have a lot of good pieces in place, and we need more, and they don't need to be superstars. They just need to be effective. And half our lineup wasn't.
