Who should the Sabres target?
Do you think a coach makes the difference if there's no significant lineup changes? - TheMussel
Seems like a lot of people think Q going to Florida is an instant fix |

It will be if they get Bob and Panarin...or he has a Trotz like 100 goals allowed reduction through miracle tending. |

Steve Yzerman and Alex Ovechkin didn't win their first Stanley Cup until they were 32. Connor McDavid can't even get his team into the playoffs. But if Auston Matthews, at 21, can't carry the Leafs to victory over Boston, it's a massive failure. Seriously people?

Coaches are fired and hired quick these days.
Man, so many other sports wait a few weeks. - Aaron_85
I wonder what effect a coach like Popovich or Guardiola would have on the Leafs if they joined the coaching support staff. They obviously know nothing about hockey, but I’m sure they could team the group something about commitment, and how to close out big games. |

No I do agree with you about lineup changes. I don't believe this is the guy to coach the Sabres. |

Bob is 30 now, if they sign him to a long term deal... well thats their own fault when it implodes.
Panarin is good, and young enough still.
why are they signing with Florida though? |

I wasn't really making a point, more asking. The Sabres showed flashes of quality play this year but sucked it up down the stretch. More asking if you think players will improve as they develop (like Mittelstadt) or if you think tradez gotta be made along with a coaching change before they get success. |

I hope Montreal offers a poopload of money to Panarin.
He'll turn it down, but they should do it anyway. |

I recently said, while vomiting a little, that I thought Tavares was probably the best UFA signings of the last 10 years. Considering his talent level and age.
I think Panarin could be a signing of similar importance and success. |

other than him being a winger vs a center 100%. he'll have similar offensive impact and it'd make things easier for everyone else on the team. he'd put them in the playoffs |

If the Habs get Panarin (either them or NYR will) then they’ll be a serious threat. They’ll be a mixture of vets and youth backstopped by the best goalie in the world. Also great coach.. |

I'm sure the Habs will be interested.
I doubt we sign him, it's been a while since we attracted any notable UFA.
Last one was probably Cammalleri. |
