You have to remember we didn't have Carlo last year. I'd take a healthy Carlo over Miller any day.
- RickJames77

Not having Sean Kuraly pisses me off...I know that sounds weird coming from an outsider, but he could've been a real x-factor.

One of those players the rest of the league's fanbases don't appreciate, but when he's on your team you really see his value.

PPP has a pretty good statistical breakdown of the Leafs/Bruins matchup.
Its hard to look at that and say the Leafs are an underdog or have no chance.

Boston is by far the superior team defense wise, thats no surprise.

Of course it does. It's why you went out and got Tavares

It doesn't mean it's not the best tactic for this year.

- RickJames77

Pretty sure we didnt go out and get Tavares to just split the Bruins top pair/1st line up

I get what you are saying, I just think it changes the dynamic significantly from last year. Hoping for our sake Nylander wakes up.

No poop

You go out and get another elite center to create a defensive imbalance and matchup nightmare. Doing that is trying to split up our shutdown line and defensive pairings and having to worry about 2 elite lines instead of one. We're not going to role Bergy and Chara out there at once now. I think getting Tavares had everything to do with creating matchup problems and with a specific premonition that you'd be in the same situation you were last year. I think as much has been documented in certain places.

Whatever happens it's a really interesting series to answer the question of the Bruins super line versus Toronto's one two punch of centre depth.

Personally I think Andersen wins it in the end.

I completely agree.

Even if Bergeron gets to shutdown Matthews like he did last year. Who's gonna shutdown Tavares?

It changes everything really.

If anything, I think Bergeron will face Tavares's line. So we might see a way better series out of Matthews compared to last year.

I also think Andersen is the most reliable goaltenders of the two. My opinion on this didn't change since last year.

I do wonder how tired the guy is though.... he did mention it a few times.

He played 6 less games than last year, which I was happy with.

Honestly, I hear every Leaf player is "tired" and they play less than most teams top players.

Well, I think we went out and got an elite centre to make the team better, not because of Boston, but sure. We did do it to make matchup nightmares for sure

Hoping the Leafs can break through this time around, and that Matthews actually looks like Matthews. I have a feeling Kapanen will be on Mattheews line due to the fact that his speed poses problems for Chara. Hoping to ignite that line and expose that matchup.

Marchand is going to put a tight leash on Marner to slow him down. It'll also serve a dual purpose for when he's feeling kinky and wants to bring 'em in close

I could see Marchand getting suspended this series, he likes to take it too far.

I think so.. In all honesty, I think the Tavares line matches up well against the Bergeron line.. my worry is Babs putting the Kadri line against the Bergeron line.. If he does that, the Kadri line will be eaten alive.

He's just looking after the young lad and making sure he gets what's his.

Well I wouldn't put much stock into it if it came from an article....

But when it's the player himself saying he's tired. It's a little worrysome no?

Marchand will do something stupid again, and will be given another stern talking to by Chara.. No other supplemental discipline.

They're in the top half of the NHL in height and weight. And that was before the addition of Muzzin.

Matthews is gonna make Rask get all cranky, and Rask will throw his goalie stick and fall down, all upset.
