I may be in the minority, but this year's UFA class doesn't get me too excited. EK is 29 and a health risk and SUPER expensive, AP is great, but will be on the 2nd line,..and do we want to spend all that cash on left wingers in Hall and Panarin, while centers Nico and whoever #2 is will need to eventually get paid? We need a 2nd line center more than a 2nd line $10k LW. Stone would've been nice.. Duchene does nothing for me and seems like a player I'd want to stay away from. He seems to make teams worse. Not a guy I want to overpay for in free agency.. and whoever you do buy you have to overpay.. I don't want it to be him. Skinner again is a LW. Pavelski is 34 and staying in SJ, Simmonds, Lee, Gardiner, 29-year-old Eberle...31y/o Zuc, Brock Nelson, Ferland.. Hayes.

These guys just don't seem like great fits. Maybe try out Donskoi? I don't want MoJo and his 40gp/year back.

I think it's trade or bust for Ray.

Its possible we can pluck a duck from Anaheim. They always seem to have an abundance of good youngsters.

But how many times can we trade with the Ducks and come out on top before they stop trading with us.

haha maybe Shero can sneak a couple more in before they notice. They did extend Henrique so I guess they're happy so far.

We've got a lot of extra draft picks so I'm hoping that some kind of trade happens.

I'm sure a trade will happen, we have way too many picks in the 2nd and 3rd to sit tight and keep them all. I just cant imagine a world where Ray holds all of the picks and makes selections

I get that, BUT holding on to all would be a great way of restocking the pool and making sure we have players ready to come up. I would not be opposed in going that route. LOTS of great players come from the 2nd round, we could get very lucky keeping these picks.

But if the goal is finding roster talent right now, you can definitely get trades going with those picks and even over pay some to get what you need.

Sure, it'd be nice to boost the prospect pool a bit. But seeing Shero's history, specifically with us, has been to not use all of our picks, and especially having so many this time im expecting another Palms/MoJo type of trade to be coming before or at the draft. Even moreso now that Hall has called out our need for more talent on the roster

Yes, if thats the goal. Has Shero said anything regarding the teams plans? I'd imagine the rebuild should be nearing its end so you would be right. Has ownership ever given Shero a timeline for the rebuild ?

He mentioned that he shares in Hall's belief of lack of talent and holes on the roster that Hall brought up in his exit interview yesterday and said that adding more talent was his top priority this offseason. He said that we're well positioned to do that having 10 picks, whether its through trades or if theres something in free agency. He also reiterated what he said 2 years ago about spending money when the time is right, and said "the time is getting close." So take that how you will

I'm trying to remember how the lottery works. It's just like 15 minutes right? Or do they dance around for a while and do the actual lottery in the latter 15 minutes in a half-hour block? I probably won't be home until 8:20 -_-

Idk how they plan on doing it this year. It has an hour long time slot on nbcsn, while in the past it was usually like 15-20 minutes during an intermission of a playoff game lol. It'd be cool to see it all play out live and see where the balls land, instead of having it done beforehand and just showing the order

James Duthie will talk about stuff nobody cares about for a while then they will reveal backwards the draft order painfully slow.

If Colorado does end up with the #1, would a trade for Hall be interesting? Hall MacKinnon would be a scary duo. Would you rather hope to sign Hall if they would take that trade? What if we drew 2nd and could get Hughes and Kakko.

That would be awesome. Then sign Panarin for that top line LW.

DO IT NOW! lol

The worst case scenario is picking 6th and we'd still get a pretty damn good player.

How about we land the first, trade it to Vancouver so the brothers can play together and we get Petterson?

This is the thought i have going into it as well, no matter where we're picking 1-6 we're ending up with a very good prospect. Obviously Hughes or Kakko is the prize, but if we land 3-6 i'm perfectly fine walking away with any of Byram, Podkolzin, Turcotte, Zegras, or even Dach/Cozens and won't be complaining at all. Some people(mostly random kids on the internet that havent seen him play and only look at point totals to tell a story) complain about Podkolzin because he doesnt have stats to back it up but that doesnt worry me at all, the kid is a bull on the ice and a force to be reckoned with, does everything well and doesn't have any red flags outside of having a temper that he needs to learn to control. With Hughes/Kakko off the board, he's the BPA at 3 if you're taking that approach, no questions asked tbh.

If i had to choose, my preferred choice is between Byram and either Zegras/Turcotte if we're not top 2. I can't decide between those two centers, both are super skilled

I trust castron and his group to find good players compared to conte.

I do too! No matter what happens tonight, we're in a good spot and gonna get a very good prospect. It's a pretty solid top 10 top to bottom this year

Nice thing about this draft is a good mix of centers and wings projected early with a Dman thrown in there. Could make an argument that we could use whoever BPA is no matter where we wind up. The only one that makes me a bit nervous is Podkolzin.

All that being said. I want Kakko dammit.
