Let's nip it in the bud.

Isn’t that how it all started?

Or take the best D-man in the draft. Byram.
- Elbows15

THIS

From what I’ve read he’s a stud

We should definitely draft another talented young defenseman, soon enough our Dcore will be solidified.

I know you are joking but I would do Gustafsson for Kadri all day. Would have to find a suitor for AA.
- Elbows15

I would too, don’t think Gusto would enjoy Babcock too much.

Kadri
- oldduffman

Scores 30 goals. Good defensively. Bring a bit of a tude. Which this team needs and is younger that AA. Plays above his contract.

What's not to like here.

Well, now I have to re-think everything.

BTW. I think the D-core is closer to being solidified than you think. Which isn't going to matter much if this forward group doesn't get better defensively, tho.

How about the third for kappanen, Johansson, and Kadri, helps solve your cap problems.

- LAHawk

Id make that deal if you threw in Keith and Zaitsev

Gardiner survived Babcock. And Gus may actually be better defensively that Gardiner.

Kudos to those who kept saying we'd pick 3rd. Nicely done!

Cozens is the guy I think they take too.

I will be posting a few things tomorrow on a couple of these guys. It will be top level and then will get into profiling these guys more over the next couple of months!

- Justin Lowe

I'd take Vasiliy

Let’s hope it’s another of these #3 finds:

The @NHLBlackhawks have made five selections at No. 3 overall: Jonathan Toews (2006), Denis Savard (1980) and Ed Olczyk (1984). #NHLStats

You didn't like #3 overall Cam Barker?

I just read up on him. He does seem like a legit player.

1. Huges
2. Kakko

3. Podkolzin ("Has the Russian IT factor" "Plays like a demon")
4. Cozens (Big power center. Would play center #3 if he made the team? This makes Anisimov even more expendable.).
5. Bryam (Best defensemen available. 30 goals).

Who do we pick? Or do we trade up?

The Sabres would be a better option. Habs are pretty set at C with Domi, the Finn, Danault and Poehling

30 goals was last year. Kadri has a big role to play for the Leafs out of the 3 hole in the Bruins series. He should be a difference maker going up against a guy like Charlie Coyle or Marcus Johanssen.

Sorry, we are already carrying a boat anchor contract on defense.

Yeah. I know but he has done it more than once and even playing as a 3C I still think he can give a team 20/20 if not a bit better. He is vg defensively. Can play the PK. And has a bit of an edge plus he is on a good contract.

Not this year 16 goals .Takes more bad penalty .Not what I would call a good teammate .Defensively ok but not great . Rather hang onto Gus ,till at least the trade deadline . Draft a solid two way Center out of the 3 spot and move on .

Ive been thinking that too. The NYR overthink iit, leaving Kakko for us. If not , my heart is set on Cozens

Im not disagreeing with you. Kadri can be a nasty piece of work which is the type of player the Hawks are in need of. But the Leafs will let other players go before him.

Craig Button on his April edition of the draft analysis made the point that the gap between Kakko at #2 and Podkolzin at #3 is closer then the gap between Hughes and Kakko ... so maybe NYR takes Podkolzin and Kakko falls in our laps.
