I hate to take a chance on a Russian player who is still playing in Russia - and I know there have been a lot of success stories and Podkolzin could be one too - but I still think it's a risk I wouldn't take unless I knew for sure he would leave Russia to play in for the Hawks in 2019.

I haven't seen Cozens play but just going by scouting reports I prefer Turcotte.

That’s an interesting option that could be very much in play. Since most draft projections indicate there is a drop off after the first two players (Hughes/Kakko), perhaps the Hawks identify the player they want as most likely being available later in the order. Gives them the option to trade down and pick up some additional picks/assets. Stan and the boys have a ton of scenarios to work through.
