Obviously moving up from 12 to 3 is GREAT ... but, only the top-2 are assured to be ready to play in the NHL next year. So ... now what? I know a lot of time to figure it out but right now I would pick Turcotte. |

3. Vasily Podkolzin, RW, SKA St. Petersburg (MHL), 6-foot-1, 190 pounds: High character and off-the-charts compete combined with work ethic and skill make for a complete package.
4. Dylan Cozens, C, Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL), 6-foot-3, 181 pounds: With the disappointment of an early and unexpected playoff exit, Cozens has a second life at the U18 worlds. |

Not sure you take a chance on a Russian with the 3 pick |

Where is your conspiracy theory about the hawks being hated by the league now PowerEnforcer?
TOP 3 Pick !! - AusHawk
C'mon ... we all know if Bettman didn't hate them the Hawks would have gotten the #1 pick. |

Does the #3 pick also mean we draft 3rd in each of the other rounds?

How do you know one of Hughes or Kaako won't still be there at #3? |

I hate to take a chance on a Russian player who is still playing in Russia - and I know there have been a lot of success stories and Podkolzin could be one too - but I still think it's a risk I wouldn't take unless I knew for sure he would leave Russia to play in for the Hawks in 2019.
I haven't seen Cozens play but just going by scouting reports I prefer Turcotte. |

I was thinking do they try to get to #2?
This also gives the Hawks a lot more draft capital and talent.
Wouldn’t mind moving one of our top D prospects to unload Seabs or for a legit Top 4.
This pick gives the Hawks a lot more options. Let’s hope Stan doesn’t frank it up. |

I don't know but Hughes and Kakko have been the consensus top-2 picks all year so I'd say the odds are slim one of them would fall to the Hawks at #3.
