I don’t hold Q in that high regard
Is he really a “good” coach?

- jdfitz77

Q's team always busted in the playoffs with the blues

Ricky, Trevor and Bubbles could have won a cup with those hawk teams, probably more then Q won

I think the biggest take away here we still don't know what the plan is with the sabres... when the bills hired McD and Beane the plan was pretty clear from the beginning... and now going into year three it's crystal clear.

the sabres the "plan" is not clear... "we are going to run an up tempo game" and they bring in older slower guys that don't fit the plan... and sabres land say WTF are we doing??? then they trade payers away and bring in younger guys that again don't fit what we are supposed to be doing.... WHAT THE HELL IS THE PLAN WITH THE SABRES?

this is my biggest problem with Botts and the owners right now....

I would really really really like to see someone ask this question at the season ending presser. And if the answer includes the term "develop properly" a follow up needs to be asked to explain who developed properly on the Sabres this year.
I wasnt a big fan of the way housley managed players but the players were provided by Botteril.

All of those you listed are stop gaps, unless you think the team didn't need another rebuild after the Murray poopshow?
- kingcong39

You didnt need to waste assets on stop gaps, you could have signed players. He acquired them for their "talent." He is over his head.

The lovefest for Botts is ridiculous

Panarin isn’t going to Florida. There have been numerous reports that he wants to play for a big market.
- RobShouts

He wants to go to a big city on the coasts allegedly. Miami definitely fits that. Miami is the 7th largest city in the US, and is only behind NY, LA, and DC in terms of coastal cities.

Based on better goaltending, trading for Skinner, and the drafting of Dahlin.
- Mentalorgasm5

and a defense that still had no idea what they were doing?...the Hamilton quote I used is absolutely telling...young coach so enamored with himself that he won't alter his system to fit the players he has

Yup even with the defense. A legitimate 2nd line would have had this team in the playoffs.

Personally... i say bring Ruff back..... I credit him for taking the Sabres to the playoffs his first year after the whole Ted Nolan disaster.... That team was a mess but to his credit they were quite competitive....

Besides the guys from StL not being all that good,
this was my big issue with the trade

We weren’t bringing in guys that “fit” the style of play we were supposedly trying for

That just never made any sense

I'd love to know if the team ditched Housleys "system" these last 2 games and then made sure to say as much to Botts/Pegs/whoever afterwords. They didnt exactly slay 2 powerhouses, but they looked a lot better than they have for months.

Nope.

But definitely builds a big enough case that is shouldnt just be Housely right now.

If Skinner doesnt resign, is that enough to sway the needle to firing Botts? Could have landed another 1st for him at the deadline.

Ted Nolan coulda got this team playing .500-point hockey
- Michael Pachla

Ok, maybe
But the guy hasn’t had an NHL job all these years for a reason
He’s not a good coach

We need more than someone who just yells

give him an office job

I don't want to look in the past anymore as a sabres fan

after briere and drury ditched, ruff abandoned the fun and gun, and really there was not much more fun for us sabre fans

it ain't gonna help...but I don't think it will be detrimental...I think housely's firing actually helps them in that quest
