Seeing this team try to win without any shutdown whatsoever would be entertaining for the first 25 games until the defense settled into the season and then NJ would proceed to start tanking again losing every game 5-2 and watching people complain they aren't scoring enough, blaming even rating defensemen, and protecting -25 rating defensemen saying "their even rating teammates are lousy" until we start hearing the tank motto of the year ("Etre en derriere pour Lafreniere") ("Finis derniere pour Lafreniere')

Let's hope we get 1 or 2, because we need a RW or C far more. I like Butch as our #1LD, Smith as #2, and Greene/Walsh/Yak as #3. Kakko or Hughes would be a much needed boost to our top 6.

You’re right. I thought Byfield was 2021 eligible. He’s young for a 2020 eligible.

we're freaking doomed, forget it.

How nice would our team look with Hischier-Hughes-Zacha down the middle. How much nicer would it look if they all develop to what we hope their potential is? We'd be set. Then you just mix and match wingers.. and oh, HALL and Palmieri already in the lineup.. Coleman and Bratt looking like nice pieces. Sign another winger.. hopefully another top 6 is found through the draft.. and we'll be set. If Blackwood actually pans out into a consistent top 15 starter, I'll be thrilled.

I know Kakko and Byrum and all that.. but we really need the undisputed best center and arguably best player in this draft.. obviously. Would be so sweet, especially since the only times we've won the lottery we drafted a mid-pairing dman and what will probably be a 70pt center.. no Matthew, Crosby, OV, Kane, McDavid etc etc etc. I know Larsson got us Hall but that was in no way because of the draft but on the stupidity of Edmonton lol.

I won't at all feel guilty or privileged if we win again, especially with the current lottery format. Gimme Hughes.

I trust Shero and co. to draft a good player regardless of position we draft in. I'd like Kakko because the clips of him playing he looks great. But I'm obviously not going to be mad if we take Hughes and I'll be fine with other players. Whomever we get the team needs.

That they moved it in the first place was purely a Sportsnet gimmick, and the reason it got moved back, according to the bobcast, is because it was a headache for GMs and scouts in terms of resource allocation. If guys didn't know whether they were picking top 2, top 3, whatever, they had to scout all potential picks. That gets drastically narrowed when the lottery is finished for teams picking near the top of the draft.

I'm just glad it was moved back because the system was perfectly fine the way it was before and it didn't need changing. Sportsnet is starting to sober up... Doug McLean and Brian Burke have drastically improved the quality of their segments.
