311 is good. Although I prefer Sublime, Pepper, and other beach bum bands but I dig some 311 songs. - j.boyd919
311 is my guilty pleasure 3rd wave ska band, but Sublime is actually good. I think it's a stretch to call Pepper better than 311, although Kona Town is a great album. At the very least Peanut is a legitimately uber talented musician. I got really into his artsy side project Hollows Follows for a little while there. |

Step off 311. I still use to this day 311 as the number at the end of all my accounts because I used to love them so much. - Victoro311
I like some 311 songs. They pop up on my Spotify a lot when I’m listening to Rebelution, SOJA, or some other raggae rock bands, I never feel obligated to change the song hahaha |

Bawitaba definitely makes the list of awesome super poopty 90s songs. M'bop easily makes it if you take the time to actually listen to the lyrics. Its a bunch of nonsequiturs. Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim is 100% on the top 10 list. - Victoro311
Rockefeller Skank is pretty delicious to the ears when you’re stoned. That much I remember. |

And sorry guys. 311 is just not my thing. Kind of my Foo Fighters if I were Tanner.
Side note: Colour and the Shape by FF might be one of the best albums released in the last 25 years. |

I’m not a big fan when raggae rock bands try to rap. Like I dig the Dirty Heads until they rap. Same with 311, or any of those bands to be honest. Same reason why I can’t stand Linkin Park, rock rap is trash just like raggae rap. |

Anyone ever listen to Bob and Toms parody called Bimbo No. 5? It’s a play on Bill a Clinton and his hoes. |

Everything by Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock always was and will be garbage. The first Korn album doesn't hold up either, at all.
Barbie Girl isn't good, but the Candy Man song by Aqua is awesome.
Basically, after Kurt Cobain offed himself, pop/radio music stopped being good. Not saying Nirvana was the last good band, just a good timeframe refererence - jmatchett383
Switching gears to what I actually think is good music vs poopty music that I love, its pretty crazy to look back at the late 80s and early to mid 90s and see what was considered mainstream rock at the time and compare it to just before during the era of hairmetal and to just after and up until today. A lot of legitimately good to great bands with super talented musicians that actually tried new things were enjoying a ton of mainstream success. I can probably count on two hands how many bands I respect musically have cracked the top 40 charts in the past decade. |

Totally agree. I think 311 would have been ten times better if they didn't let S.A. Martinez touch the mike and only had Nick Hexum on vocals. I'm usually not a fan of their songs that are S.A. heavy with Come Original the exception because Peanut just (frank)ing kills that bass rift behind the S.A. rapping bits. |

Agreed with all of this. But every generation has this as the majority viewpoint. My stuff is better than that of today. Only, we are the only generation to be right about this statement thus far. |

I think people who say that about the mid 60s to early 70s have it right too. Some cool poop happened once Hendrix and Clapton invented modern rock guitar. |

I concur. Lot of the sixties was good stuff. Some 70s and a lot of 80s stuff I like as well. I’m a generalist with music, though. It’s pretty much like six or seven artists that are my favorite and then 65% of the remaining stuff I’ll listen to.
Guitar players I hold a special reverence for. Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. Two artists that never get enough love. |

Honestly I barely even pay attention to the music I have on. I just throw something on and it’s more background poop when I’m at the gym or in the car or cooking or cleaning or some poop. I couldn’t even tell you the lyrics to 90% the music I listen to nowadays. |

Speaking of Dirty Heads, I was turned off on them when I seen them last year. I felt like I was at an eminem show. Super gay. But, other than them, the show was awesome. |

Isn’t that the truth.
What feels odd to me these days is to hear classic music being referred to as Nirvana, Sublime, Metallica, NWA, Garth Brooks and even Hanson.
Then I remember the 90s started almost thirty years ago. |

Not many people do. I used to slapa da bass before I went to college and replaced all my productive hobbies with boozing, so I have an ear for it. |

Oh yeah I saw SOJA with Rebelution, Tribal Seeds and Damian Marley last year at Raggae Rise Up in St Pete. Iration was here a few weeks ago and I (frank)ing missed it. I didn’t find out about it till the day of or else I would have gone. Iration is awesome.
Have you ever listened to Serenation?
They’re a local band from Clearwater/St. Pete area. They put on an awesome show. At Raggae Rise Up this year dude threw a surfboard on the crowd and was literally crowd surfing while singing. |
