No leverage would be an exaggeration... but I dont feel he has a lot.
- boonerbuck

Not if he truly wants to stay in Vancouver. Here is a 2 year deal, we refuse to protect you for the expansion draft. We'll discuss another deal after the draft.

I still think Edler is a good asset for us, but the only way he has any value is in re-signing him. His protection from being traded/claimed comes in the form of UFA status.
- golfingsince

Any vet who costs cap & can’t be traded isn’t an “asset” IMO. Wasting $ on Edler until he retires doesn’t help this build in any way/shape/form. Is he seriously a guy people want mentoring our young D? A guy who refused to play the side the coaches asked him to try... A guy who has no desire to waive & join a contender (prefers comfort zone to winning)... I sincerely hope that detached paycheck collector mentality doesn’t rub off on any of our long-term pieces.

I think JB probably feels threatened about job security. If they don’t make the playoffs next season he is gone. They need Edler to be competitive. So I disagree that Edler has no leverage.
- CanuckDon

I really hope Benning doesn't make any move this off season, either by trade or UFA signing, with the motive behind it strictly being his own job security.

Edler's best season in 7 or 8 possibly. He applies his leverage with a rubber crow bar.

Ideally looking for cap strapped trade partners & taking their most serviceable bad contract while adding picks and/or prospects in the swap... then trading that guy next TDL.

That (frank)er Pearson is going to keep scoring... you know it... all the way to 84 points in the standings.

I can live with the late season wins if they had more picks at least

Having a bad team pick 10th or later with just their own picks is just annoying

- Nucker101

JB picked up a few late round draft picks this year didn't he? My hope was to get a few draft picks this season that could step into the lineup next or the year after. I'm hoping we don't see this years 1st rounder having to spend another year in Junior and another 3 years in the AHL before the canucks can reap some benefit.

7 goals in 17 games as a Canuck. 33 goal pace over 82. Not bad at all considering who he was dealt for.

Agreed for the most part. I’d still sign him if he’d take a limited NTC for 2 years and then eventually flip him at the TDL next season or the year after.

I want more draft picks.

This is what I mean. The lines you cross but it's people(singular) who mock opinions who are the villain.

I'm going to burn you every single time you get on your soap box about me. I let you off the hook and things were civil for a year but I told myself you wont get away with it in the future anymore. Stay off your soap box and you'll not have to face your history on here.

You are counting my responses to you as PM sent by me obviously.

Probably 3-4 years at 5-6M

If he wants a full NMC then probably closer to 5M
