I’m gonna ignore this because you ignored that fact that this has nothing to do with G at center.

Sorry...didn't know you were too busy to get to the second paragraph where I answered your question...

but hell at least one person wanted to trade Ghost and Jake for Getzlaf and the a different trade for Keith.
- opeth_pa

That would be pretty bad.....you would eventually have to get rid of everyone and start over like the Phils did a couple of years ago

Addition through subtraction. I'm tired of the inconsistencies of Voracek and its not like your getting nothing. In getting AG, on a contract year that could be flipped for more assets if your not happy, and an Arizona 1st, and maybe more. And if you sign Duchene or Panarin, their numbers plus AG will be a lot more then Voracek. And your saving about 3 million in cap.

Jake has averaged 69 or 70 points over the past 5 seasons with 55 being his low and 85 being his high...

I have no issues with Voracek though I know he doesnt fit in with the current Flyers model of player: no flash, solid 200 foot game, cant skate.

Jake has no shot, as Bill said he more "shovels" the puck.

Jake is a great assist man, but so is Giroux.

Jake can't PK.

He is terrible defensively.

He is a turn-over machine.

And he is very streaky.

With that said his production has made it all "ok" in the past. But a lot of his bad attributes seem to be leeching into the rest of the team for stretches these past few years. It has to stop.

So like I said..200 foot player or bust.

Between Giroux and Jake I would move Jake 100% of the time but im not interested in trading him simply because he isnt the next version of Coots but only if it makes the Flyers better..

If you move him then thats another 60-80 points gone from a Team that already only has 2 legit point producers in G and Coots.

Jake's supposed terrible defense and turn over machine is drastically overblown on these boards. It would be extremely difficult to win a trade sending Jake away, especially if our goal was to win games for the next 3 years.

Makes little sense. You're not adding, you're subtracting. You don't trade a player like Voracek for a player to see if you want to keep that player in the future. That's absurd.

I did? Isn't he close to a 20 goal, 40 point player that can play any forward position on a 4.9 million contract?
- youarewrong

Yes you did by adding him as your second line center on what you label a Stanley Cup contender.

Honestly, I don’t see us getting a good enough deal for Voracek and simultaneously replacing his production. If we improve our depth, we can play him on the top line with Coots and G. Hiding his flaws. Although if I am honest, I thought his shot improved a few seasons ago, if I remember right; so maybe he could work at it during the offseason again (Lindblom too).

Criteria if we get a new guy on defense...

NHL club with many young, talented defenseman seeks a veteran all-situations plus defenseman, age 27 to 32, who can play the right side, preferably RH, log 22-25 minutes a night, be a leader on and off the ice, has a solid work ethic, mentor the up and coming players, and comes to win.

It’s a big ask. At risk of really stirring the pot...who is out there that meets this?
Erik Karlsson
Jared Spurgeon
Alex Pietrangelo
PK Subban
John Klingberg
Drew Doughty
...?

What are the chances any can be plied away from their current team? In the event that we strike out on meeting all the requirements, which ones would you bend? Why?

I would bend on age and “proven leader” first—substituting minimum age 24 with 3 full years in the NHL and leadership potential. Next try, if that fails, I would bend older on the age—substituting max age of 34 and term of 2 years. Last thing I would bend is playing the right side. If they do that, he would be anchoring the second pairing, and we shouldn’t bend any other qualifications with that one.

How many playoff games combined does Hagg, Provorov, Myers, Sanheim, Gudas, and Ghost have? Without really adding it up I'm saying under 30. You dont think that could be improved with a Vet?
- youarewrong

How many playoff games combined did Toews had when Chicago announced him Captain for the first time?

You guys really have a hang up that doesn’t matter. Provorov, Konecny, Lindblom and Sanheim have played in the playoffs. Nor to mention two of the four are just finishing their third nhl season.

Relax.

I'm with you, I don't think we need to because Gudas is a veteran that plays the game hard and I would think the young guys respect. I think it is important to have a leader back there, if you took out Gudas and Amac I'd say maybe but I think we are fine.

It's probably important to have a strong voice for the young D core, who's to say Gudas isn't a respected veteran voice though? If not a solid Vet a respected coach for the D.
- ClaudeFather

I have got a lot of hope for our young defensemen. Reality says that what it is—hope. Gudas had a down year last year. So much so that I wasn’t thrilled that we kept him. He bounced back and played more consistently this year. I still have games where he does things that make me hit my head. He was suspended again. I think he is a developed player and his upside is a 4-6 spot and adds PK help. I would really like a clear 1-3 all situations veteran. That’s not Gudas as I see him.

My question is, what is another veteran defenseman going to do that Gudas and Mac already doing?

I don’t think fans on this board realize just how good Provorov, Sanheim and Myers already are. We went from not having a number one guy since Kimmo Timonen, to three possibilities. Now some of you want to give up a puzzle niece for a guy who can talk to the players in a tone Gudas can’t?

It just doesn’t make sense to me. Hägg and Ghost are also really good at what they specialize in. They’re not perfect, I’m not even as big a Ghost fan as everyone else but he has elite offensive talent that I’m not ready to move on from.

Same, tough to see the guy falling off a cliff here production wise. He was underpaid for so long and it seems may never get to "cash in". He is currently looking ta a disappointing summer. A big playoffs is needed.

New coach. Top 4 d. Center depth. Bottom 6 speed. Sign back up

My question for all of you is if we acquire Panarin, who centers him?

- cdearth23

Good question. If for some reason they need G at center, that's my answer. Nothing more lethal than a top playmaker feeding a top goal scorer pucks.

If G on wing, I'd still say him and go with a line of Patrick centering Panarin and G.
