The hawks don't it's a bad idea. - GPHawksfan
Why is it a bad idea to take on a salary for 1 year in exchange for a pick or a prospect? We have the cap space next season. |

I dont know why everyone loves kampf. I dont see anything special that says he's a legit 3rd or even 4th line center. Same with dahlstrom and forsling pass on both. Would like to see Gilbert up. And though o haven't been impressed with him this year I dont know why Hayden isnt playing. |

JL had similar thoughts along these lines when he mentioned the Hawks take on Callahan's 6M salary from Tampa plus one of their prospects to help their cap situation. But a move like this signals the Hawks are looking a couple of years down the road by acquiring a pick or prospect rather than using their available cap space to improve the team next year. How would McD spin that? |

Who cares how McD spins it? Watch the games and you know exactly where they are, and what they are doing. McD is a politician. Let him blow hot air. |

The concern I have with a high draft pick this summer is they will go for an offensive guy, and we all know the defense is the biggest area of need. If the Blackhawks get, say the 7th pick, will they pick the best defensive prospect on the board, or will they pick the best prospect? I woud like to see them possibly trade the pick for a top defensive guy (depending if the pick is 6/12 range), and maybe a lower #1 pick. The defense should be the #1 priority, and I don't think they look there if they are in the top 5 picks. Does anyone else agree? - powerenforcer
Don't you believe the Hawks should take the best player available when they choose? |

You think the defense is bad now? Get rid of Keith and Seabrook and it will get even worse. Like it or not they are still the best defensemen the Hawks have. |

I don't want them to follow Edmonton's plan......that is all I am saying. Build the team properly. Stop the puck going into your own net, and the goals you get become bigger. |

The physically weaker player usually loses stick on stick battles - hence the Hawks usually lose stick on stick battles - especially against a big/strong team like Winnipeg. Burly men against lavender sniffers out there tonight. |

I guess the musical chairs for the 6th D spot will continue. Forsling out and Koekkoek in for the next game?

Soft served Q well considering they won 3 cups with him coaching, no? |

Forsling made a nice play on the Jet's first goal - unfortunately Kane was just floating back and didn't bother the pick up the goal scorer. Even still, the shot wasn't defected and CC had a clear look at it but didn't stop a well placed shot. We've seen a lot of opposing goalies stop those kind of shots against the Hawks this season. The Hawks have a hard enough time keeping the puck out of the net when CC is playing well - when he lets in a goal like the Jet's 2nd goal - really tough to win the game. |

I thought Forsling played the first GA well. He knocked the puck off of Tanev's stick, but Lowry was there to put it in the net. If anyone was at fault, it was Kane. He made no effort to get to the loose puck.
ETA: I was thinking you were talking about the first goal, but looking at the time of the post, you were talking about the goal at the end of the period. Yes, that was a bad play by Forsling. No reason for him to not get the puck out of the Hawks' zone. |

Good. Winning any more games does nothing. Hopefully they play 4 tight and competitive games and lose all 4 in regulation by 1 goal.

Not a good first minute...a penalty shot (good save Crow) and a dog penalty. |
