Of course it’s jackass Hayes..Saad is such a disappointing player most nights. 20 got a good look on that one and Strome gets walked...
ANOTHER worthless OTL point....smh - EnzoD
Correct.....and if Duncan Keith is our best dman next year we are in trouble. He should buy CC a nice fat Steak dinner for bailing his sorry as$ out all night. Keith now makes far more bad plays than good ones. Sorry to see that and say that after all these years but I'm hoping he can be moved this summer. Another year on this team and his value will be ZERO.

Why are Foley and Boyle saying the Hawks are still in it?? Best they can do now is tie Colorado in points, and correct me if i'm wrong, but they lose all tie breakers. Am I missing something?? - BobP.
I think the first tie breaker is ROW and if Hawks win next 3 they will have 37 which is 1 more than Colorado has right now.

Hawks are currently at 32 ROW's. Colorado at 34, Minn at 35, and Ariz. at 34. You would still have to leap frog 3 teams. Unfortunately, not likely.
The boys have really been playing hard imho. This year has at least been interesting |

Tough to see Seabrook struggling physically out there. He ain't right. Doesn't look likely he will be playing out his full contract as a healthy player the way he is going. He has never properly recovered since that 7 game series in round 1 with the Blues in 2016.
Kane continued to have something nagging him too. I wouldn't expect all the vets to be going hard at this point now that they definitely won't make it. |

Seabrook and Forsling were a dumpster fire tonight. Some nice offensive pieces, and some exciting defensive prospects. But, next year’s team is likely going to look very similar, barring some major trades and/or UFA signings. Been an entertaining year, including tonight. Just a bummer to see Kane’s play fall off a cliff. Had a bit more jump tn but I’m thinking he’s playing through an upper body injury bc his shot is lacking velocity and accuracy. No goals for 3 weeks! Saad has one good game a week. Cat and Strome should be playing with Saad. |

Gotta love Saad just standing infront of the net lol - MichaeLionheart
And again Saad gets into the 3on3 and what happens ... the Jets end up with the puck. I like Saad 5on5 but he doesn't know how to play 3on3 where puck possession is paramount and therefore low percentage plays should NOT be taken. Is he just thick or what?

OOPS - got my numbers wrong but the message is the same - they could finish in front of Colorado. That doesn't mean they make the playoffs though because they would have to jump over Arizona and Minnesota too. |

Cat plays best on the left and so does Saad so I don't think it's a good match. |

Gives two defensive liabilities in Cat and Strome a defensively responsible linemate. Even Anisimov would help them defensively. I think that’s why Kampf has had some shifts with them recently. Not sure how Kruger gets to stay in the lineup over Kampf.... |

Re-watched the Hayes GWG and Strome literally did not take a single stride again after the spin move. MOVE YOUR FEET kid! |

True, but if not for Strome they don’t make it to OT. Can’t be too hard on the kid. |

Yep and they say you can teach defense, but the scoring ability that Strome and Cat possess is exciting for the future. |

Call me crazy (and many have), but I don’t think the Hawks are too far off from bing a contender again. A few tweaks like this are all that’s needed next season:
- Repeat season from Kane
- Repeat season from Toews
- Repeat season from DeBrincat
- Moderate improvement from Strome
- Jokiharju emerges as a true #1 defenseman
- Healthy Crawford for the entire season
- Add an actual NHL caliber backup
- replace Forsling, Koekkoek and Dahlstrom with three top-4 defensemen
- two true 4th line (ie defensive) wingers for Kampf
- a new penalty kill scheme
- Perlini becomes a consistent 20 goal forward
- The Drake stays healthy
- upgrade Anisimov for a defensive minded 3C who can also score
- Kahun improves upon this year
- No more Kunitz
- No more Ward
- Sikura can score at least one goal
- Saad returns to his 2014/2015 form
See folks.... it’s just that easy. |

totally agree...as flawed as they are they never quit; when they were getting blown or giving up goals early and often in the 1st they continued to play and often times came back to tie and a few times won...

but of your list the most critical is sikura getting his first...then it's cup time

On the flip side I remember when some fans tried to argue it was the worst trade in the history of the franchise. |

Sure appears obvious that at a minimum the bottom six forwards should include at least two defensively responsible and at least one physical forward per line. They could make life for the dmen on their five man units much easier.
Reese Johnson and Hagel could be a nice combination and adds stability or fluidity since they have played together and look to complement each other. Them and Entwhistle when each is ready.
Saad is effective on a third line but may spend more time on a two line. Kampf is the obvious #4 center. J Nilsson won"t hurt from a defendive point of view and may be destined for a 4th line role since Colliton would trust him. Highmore would be in the running too. Perhaps Highmore competes strongly for third line and Nilsdon the 4th line.
Two prospects whom could start on a botom line have attractive resume for such work.
That would be Soderlund the speedster and Barret the mouthy agitator with some ability as well
Both are long way away but may be onnthe radar after next season. |

Well it was!! Until of course a new narrative surfaces and a new worst trade in the history of the franchise is identified. |

You guys have a lot more faith in what’s already in the system as far as replacing some of the current roster with other depth, then I do. But then again you guys follow it more closely also.
If we are having the same conversation again next season, the first move has to be to replace the front office. But then again you have a president and an owner probably aren’t that knowledgeable of potential front office candidates from other teams. I wonder if either of those guys can even name 10 players on the current team. Well maybe McD might be able to since it’s all about TV commercials and marketing.
Kevin Hayes is the exact type of center/forward that this team needs. I understand people are burned out what happened before, but if he is willing to sign here I would gladly welcome him given that Tkachuk family Pedegree, and as you guys called them face punchers, I would gladly take a forward like Tom Wilson or a defenseman like Josh Manson on this team. I may not be the only one, I am sure others get tired of watching a team that is built for a good Sunday morning Johnny‘s icehouse no check elite league.
What did the commentators say last night between three or four guys it’s 45% of the total scoring done. We need bottom six depth from outside the organization, and hopefully two strong defense men of significance. I am totally on board with trading guys like Forsling, The beloved Gus, and even Joki If it is going to bring us a significant upgrade as part of a package back. Repeating for the millionth time, Stan you have your work cut out for you and it should start next Monday morning. Have a good day gentlemen. |

Yesterday you indicated you didn't believe in selecting the best available player but instead would target needs. BTW I agree defensemen who can play defense and still move the puck etc. are required. Why would you want the team to pass on a more talented player to get a less talented one that fits a need? |
