skinner
reinhart

up and comers olofsson
nylander

yeah Jack plays with scrubs

when was the last time jack played an entire game with sobotka, okposo, larsson, girgens, wilson

etc

- homiedclown

I would hope his point was more general to the whole roster, rather than linemates.
Jack's line Carrie's the rest of the scrub lineup.
Since they are a one line team, other teams have it easier to shut down the one line and let the other 9 guys contribute.

that falls on EVERY sabre that played during this stretch and the higher ups

doesn't matter if it's girgens, larsson, sobotka, okposo, e-rod

or eichel, reinhart, skinner, sheary, casey, tage

doesn't matter if it's hunwick, nelson, pilut, scandella

or bogo, dahlin, risto or mccabe

hutton, ullmark

phil, botts

terry, black widow

everyone of them is responsible for this sh!t storm

every single one of them

- homiedclown

Agreed, hence the three-headed monster.
Make it 4 headed with Kimmie and Thersea

My statement was geared towards the entire roster...

for years, everyone said Jack can play with anyone

spread it around

jack can make them better

it doesn't go both ways

either jack can make slightly above average wingers better stat wise, like mcdavid, crosby, matthews, taveres, seguin etc

or he can't

I still think Jack has a lot of growing up to do , on and off the ice and he really needs to work on his D

not a dig, just an assessment of his play the last 4 months

It's the Buffalo way to keep relying and hedging on high draft picks. Flames, Canes and Yotes have had nowhere near the draft pick selection we have had in the last 4 years and are 3x more competitive. That question needs to be asked to Housely and Botterill, how are these teams doing what they are doing without high draft capital like us? Put them on the god damn spot.

this team was so set up when Murray took over

yeah we might not have got dahlin, but if he kept those picks instead of trading for kane, bogo, lehner, and ror we would be in a different position

Back to the Player Profile concept.

Botts has identified he wants a team playing a North/South style based on speedy transition and a 5 man unit. Good, checkmark here.

Ok, what players fit said style? What does that player profile look like.
Fast
Skilled
High Hockey IQ
...

If that is their desired profile...
Montour - checkmark
Dahlin - checkmark
Skinner - checkmark
Sheary - questionable at best, fast yes, smart and skilled are severely lacking
Hunwick - ya, not so much
Tage - ya, not so much now, can he develop?
Sobotka - ya, move along nothing to see here
Berglund - ya, not so much
Scandella, ya, not so much
Pommer - the legend is way past his prime, serviceable, veteran presence did squat apparently

Very much a mixed bag here. Say what you will about ROR trade, but maybe they should have paid the $10m bonus and foregone the salary dumps. The way it is turning out, the benefit of that trade is turning into merely reducing the ROR cap hit earlier.

I don't think that he can be compared to those players. Only because its not apples to apples. I would bet you right now if there was a way that Jack could play on the leafs he would be a 100 point player on that team.

I agree he has some growing up to do, However I really don't think he is the problem at all, neither is Skinner or Skunk. its the other 17 spots that are a problem.

That's exactly right.

It's funny to me when I read that all we have to do is fire Housley and everything will be fine. We have arguably the worst lineup in the NHL. That falls on the GM.

I'd give dahlin a pass, probably montour

and e-rod because he is cheap, and tries hard

I never see e-rod take shifts off, he is just is a blah player

what other NHL team keeps a coach that was first overall in the league on December 1, and then drops to 28th in the league by 4/1, has TWO 7 game losing streaks in ONE month and has been shut out 5 out of 12 games?

I don't think its all Housley fault but why is he still employed?

I have ZERO issues with E-Rod. He plays with heart and passion every shift. I respect players for that.

I would not be upset with this team as much as I am if they all came out and played for the crest on the jersey instead of the name on the back... You don't have to be the most talented team to win in this league but you sure as hell have to play with heart and outwork the other team. We just don't

Nobody is saying its all on Phil, but he brings nothing to the table as far as turning this team around, I mean come on just look at the lines ups on a nightly bases.
Mean while teams with real NHL coaches (Aka islanders) are in the playoffs when they were projected to be one of the worst teams.

We need a head coach to start to turn this around, that's 1A, 1B is some of this roster NEEDS to go away.... 1C they need to get a great player or players in this draft and sign at least two serviceable NHL players this off season.
As homie said Jack needs to grow up, actually most of this team does.... and they all need to work on defense Esp the forward group.

well that would be a positive change for once! Lately we chase good players out of here, and replace them with crap.
