Which is why four years after the last cup, the Hawks are STILL officially in cap hell. - Return of the Roar

Player contracts are outpacing avaerage cap growth. Current cap growth of about 3% per year pretty much just covers RFA qualifying offers.
Top end talent drives the rest. Once $10MM+ contracts came to be the floodgates opened.
I wonder what ratings will be when the top six market teams don’t ice good teams for a few more years. THAT will change things. |

Denver rolls 3 D pairs. Mitchell is Top PP but pretty quiet both games of the NCAA Tourney. He should stay another year at DU for sure. |

I'm watching Quintana pitch in relief for my Cubs, thinking that trade for Dylan Cease and Eloy might not look so good in a bit. |

Why? Because he is playing within his team's system? He also plays the PK. He is playing a low risk game. AIC is clogging up the neutral zone trying to spring a counter-attack. None of their D-men are really trying to push the pace. |

I didn’t go to any DU games this year. Only watched 4/5 DU games this year (both this weekend). He’s poised, not small, good skater, good hands/passing. He looks like an NHLer, just not next season. But DU has seemingly rolled 3 d-pairs both games so he hasn’t been getting the usual top pair double shifting like Makar for UMass. Gotta say, I’m pretty excited to watch the Avs next season with the additions of Makar and possibly Hughes. |

Aside from having Q to face the Brewers, that trade hasn't really good since it was made. Surprising. It never got run support with the Sox but his velocity has really dropped. |

I don't think he's been bad. But Cease could be a top of the rotation starter, and Eloy is likely to be a monster. |

That's accurate. I thought he'd be a little better. The Sox have some of the kids up now, so I'll be tuning in. |

Strome is so skilled and his vision/hockey IQ are top notch. If he can just slightly improve his skating, endurance and strength.... I’d give him $6mil over Schmaltz every day of the week.
Edit: hopefully StanBo keeps his hit streak going with another good trade or two this summer. |

Eloy was getting rookie squeezed. Kid show good plate discipline and got rung up. He is gonna need to learn not to look at the umps like they are idiots. |

He needs to improve his play in his own zone. And not just a little. Hopefully the things you want improved leads to that. Its not effort. Its where his lack of a burst really shows up. |

I thought he was making an adjustment already on the slider today. I'd bet on him. |

Exactly right. Skating is the biggest issue, but we all knew that. Not sure anyone here could’ve expected a 70 point scoring pace though since the trade |
