Not sure if this was posted before but I just saw it. I know we say this a lot but, what the hell was Scandella thinking?

his scouting is very similar to one Mikko Rantanen a few years ago
- homiedclown

somewhat similar, both highly skilled, high motor 200' players. Rantanen produced better results, while Podkolzin flashes superior raw skill.

Only problem I have is the I don’t mind staying in Russia vibes

He’s going to be a stud but I don’t think we can risk a pick on a guy that might just stay for 4 years in Russia

Fairly or unfairly, guy just reminds me of Tage. And right now, that leaves a bad taste.

I’m a 20 year Sabres STH. At the final game last season, Ristolainen and Okposo spent their warmups yucking it up, high-fiving each other, with smiles from ear to ear; their multi-month paid vacation about to begin (as well as the party you know they had).
I’m sure Ristolainen’s smile will be bigger this year, knowing his ticket out of buffalo has been punched.
Not so sure about Okposo.

Hopefully with his added 15 pounds (I hope) he also figures out he can use his body more

The last game he played in was the best I've seen him. I think there is still a glimmer of hope for him.

I've always thought there was a discussion between him and Botts before the year started. I don't know if you remember, but he was talking about how he was going to get a top6 shot with us vs not with the Blues.

He got some time on the top line too.

I think Botts told him he was going to be here. He didn't want to go back on his word, especially after cutting off Berglund quickly.

Not if they ship him to Ottawa. The grass isn't always greener.

He does seem like a player that plays intense here and there when it's on national TV or something, and really couldn't care less where he plays, how passionate the fans are, etc.

Welcome to the board N. However, I have to question your judgement because you are a Sabres fan like the rest of us. Whassup with that?

OK, I really don't care anymore and have not cared for months now win or lose, but WTF was Linus thinking on I think it was the 4th goal. It was literally the worst side to side movement I have seen since Tom Draper was with Buffalo.. what a Franking poop show...

"Nygard, a 26-year-old left-shot winger, is having a strong season for Farjestads of the SHL. He sits 3rd on the team in points (35), and is leading the charge in goals (21).

He didn't just come out nowhere. Last season he finished tied for 3rd in team scoring with 34 points, and the season before he put up 29.

I don't imagine he'll come overseas and pile up the points but if he can take the top off of defenses with elite speed, and score a few goals along the way, he could be a useful bottom-6 forward.

At Nygard's age, teams only have to commit one-year on an entry-level contract so there is no risk involved. It can't hurt for the Flames to give him a look."

Who dis?

That with how underwhelming Mittelstadt has been, we were still a one line team last season. The drop off offensively at 5 on 5 wasn’t significant
- sbroads24

And what is the relevant point in bringing up what the Sabres were/weren’t LAST season?

You’re just taking ANOTHER shot at ROR for no reason

Also...
it’s not that we didn’t have talent. It’s that ROR was misused. His season in StL has easily proven that
