They also got obscenely lucky.

Little Lord Leon has 3 EV points and 1 PPP away from McDavid this year. Reinhart has 9 and 2 away from Jack. Who relies on their superstar more?

- Wetbandit1

Every team that wins the cup though is lucky. Draisatil is a better player then Reinhart. Watch the games and you’ll know. He has the talent to drive his own line and rack up 70 points and can also play Centre. I guess Rantenen should just pack it in then since he plays with MacKinnon. Reinhart ia a great player, happy to have him but Draisatil is better.

and your point is the sabres don't need it because most nhl teams get by without one?...can those teams lay claim to the worst record in the nhl over the last eight seasons?...what was Toronto like before shanahan?
- Michael Pachla

Shanahan has been great for the leafs, but the thing that brought change to the leafs was the hiring of Tim Leiweke. From the moment he was hired, he said that he would look after the business side of things, and hire 2 people (eventually Shanahan and Ujiri) that would have complete control over the on ice and court products. It is a philosophy that I'm happy his successor Friisdahl has also maintained. It was a change from Peddie who wanted to be in the loop when hiring a GM or coach, or who knows what else.

The point is, it doesn't matter how many people you between the GM and the owner. If the owner wants to get involved, then he/she is going to be involved. If Kim Pegula wants something, does anyone believe that having a President of Hockey Ops is going to change anything?

I’m just glad Reinhart is good. Like close to very good.

I was pretty doubtful it was gonna happen. Now it just needs to happen before game 15-20 every year

Does he though? Aside from like 12 games in the playoffs 3 years ago he hasn't been able to.

He also plays an absurd 22:32 a night and is shooting 21.9%. I don't think it's as big a difference some make it out to be. He also shot a ridiculous 27.3% in the playoffs.

Botts should have signed Hagel. He's having a fantastic season in Red Deer. That's a big miss imo.

I've long said he should've been the pick. But going with the info at the time he was not. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. And yes, he's got 99 points and that's awesome, but when 95 of them come when he's on the ice with the most dynamic player in the game and can't seem to anchor his own line you have to wonder how good he really is and how much he's benefitting from said superstar.

Everything he said was right. Don't be bitter, we aren't entitled to anything just because we have been fans our whole lives. Red Sox 86 years and Cubs 100 years say hello

Here's some good news on the sabres front

UPL stops 32/33 as Sudbury sweeps their opening round series with a 4-1 win over Mississauga. He posted a 1.95 GAA and .946 save% in the four games. Good start.

Unpossible, Murray never made a good pick, especially not a defenseman! He'll (frank) it up, of that I have no doubt.

He can anchor his own line. When McDavid was suspended Draisatil put up 4 points in 2 games. When they’ve been separated he’s produced. The oilers choose to play the two of them together because they think it’s the best chance of success for their team. If Reinhart played with McDavid I don’t think he’d all of a sudden pot 46 goals and have 95 points. I think his point totals would be inflated also but not to that extent.

Tage down to Rochester...again, a couple months too late. Maybe he can find his game and the net down there. He has potential. But, so do my thumbs. We shall see if this does him good and builds his confidence.
