I read on another site that at one point last season Housley literally had his hands around Jack's neck he was so fed up with his attitude. Guy who posted claimed to have a source in the room.

If true, I think it's time to move on from the entitled brat from Bahstan.

Odd because Housley was a notorious partier.

Which means he shouldn't be sitting in on those.

His fandom gets the better of him.

It's been 8 years of him owning the Sabres.

Take out the 2 years of tanking and he has 6 seasons of him owning the team.

The results are terrible. He is influencing this team more than he should be.

As the owner he has every right to "sit in".

IT DOESN'T MEAN HE'S INFLUENCING ANYTHING IN THOSE MEETINGS.

And he gave a very simple one word answer on Skinner, because I'm positive that Botts is keeping him in the loop on negotiations, you know 'cuz of the whole ownership thing. And, well, cuz Skinner is a good player and why wouldn't Terry want him back?

I don't think the Pegulas are "clueless". A lot of this is about luck more than it is about know-how. Kraft didn't land Belichick and Brady by being a smarter owner than anyone else. In fact, Belichick was a failed experiment elsewhere before New England hired him. It's about finding the "right guy", which is the furthest thing from an exact science as you can get.

Housley wasn't a bad hire two years ago. He was the consensus "top choice" among experts for a coaching job (though I myself did have reservations about his lack of pro, not just NHL, coaching experience). The Pegulas went out and got him, and I can't fault them for that. Eventually, these teams will find the "right guy", the same way Jones "found" Jimmy Johnson and Kraft "found" Belichick. Part of it is how the coach or GM sells himself.

Robert Kraft was a Patriot superfan for years before becoming owner having been a season ticket holder since 1971. He bought the team in 1994, hired Belichick and drafted Brady in 2000. In 2001 they won their first Super Bowl and the rest is history. This is just one example of an owner having no previous experience in owning a professional sports team, but just being a fan and having a ton of money.
When they hired Lafontaine I am sure that the Pegula's believed he would be able to run the franchise for them and everything would be hunky dory. We all know how that turned out. I believe now that JBotts is here that they feel a little more confident and that he has a plan to turn the team around.

TP "we knew at the time when we were number one in the Eastern Conference, we said, 'we're not this good, but we'll come back to earth some. Now did we think we'd come back like this? No. So, at the time when we were 17-6-2 we didn't think we were the number one team in the Eastern Conference, and I think our guys have showed one thing - at one time they were. They just need to now continue and do that over a longer period of time."

This is how a lot of people felt when the Bills made the playoffs and then were bad again last year. Unfortunately in the NHL we can't rid of bad contracts as easily as in the NFL.

JBotts can't use "Trust the Process" because I think that's been copyrighted, but he should be given the time to show that he has a plan and direction for this team.

Most owners don't have previous experience owning a professional sports team. 99% of owners are just rich business men who are fans.

Something along the lines of being asked if he would like/expect a deal to get done with Skinner.

His answer was yes he expects it to get done or something along those lines.

It's not terrible but as an agent you hear ownership commenting and instead of just saying "Jason is handling that" he answers and put pressure on Botterill. Any agent will use that as leverage.

He (Pegula) is just not good at press conferences.

- Stripes77

Okay but I don't think it's a bad thing for an owner to put pressure on his GM. You have to hold them accountable and on something like Skinner, it's a no brainer.

Professional sports are also a lucrative investment if you have the capital to put up for it.

True, but I don't think you get into it just to make money. Most are fans. And if I own the team, damn right I'm sitting in on trade deadline and draft meetings if I want. Doesn't mean I'm influencing them.

They have a GM that is a genius with an MBA from Michigan who is the only person on the planet to win 3 Gold World Jr. Medals, whatever that is worth, who knows there is a problem, but not sure what to do about it. Everything is fine. Putz gets all the credit for Rochester living off all of GMTM's picks. Effin bum.

trade Jack for a high-end 2C, 35+ goal scorer, and a high-end D prospect.
