This team has been coasting from the beginning of March. They knew the season was over.

It appears this is what we should be pinning our hopes on

Probably not PC but I like to call her the iron vagina, and there is no way housley can survive this

- ieetbred

when the core up front can't get a single goal vs the second to worst team, sens

and only pop one in on the third to worst team, devils

you are officially the worst team

Agreed . Seems the handling of a player leaving was the turning point . After that it was all bad .

Really poor awareness by Ristolainen here. Couldn’t sense that no one was coming backdoor and the dangerous play was in front of him.

- sbroads24

1) Girgs should’ve never been against the wall that high up... no clue what he was thinking there

That led to

2) Scandella goes deep into the corner to play the guy with the puck- probably shouldn’t have
And he definitely shouldn’t have gotten caught between the 2 guys (partly Girgs fault bc he’s still on the wrong side of his man)

And that led to

3) Scandella’s man coming out of the corner free towards the net

Now at that point...

1) Larsson was closer & should’ve been the one to cut him off

While this is all happening, u can actually see Risto take a peak back door to see if anyone is there
But by the time he realizes Larsson isn’t gonna step up & cut the guy off
(Why didn’t he?)
THEN Risto reacts, and it’s too late

So yeah...
Risto could’ve made a move a second earlier

But that goal was WAY WAY WAY more the result of Girgs & Scandella’s poor positioning & decisions,
and the Larsson’s lack of stepping up
BEFORE
it was then finally on Risto’s late reaction

The first 25 games after the 10 game winning streak the team was losing becuase of the lack of depth. The past 25 games its been due to lack of effort and lack of depth. This team has been coasting from the beginning of March. They knew the season was over.

Yep.

Botterill is a very bad GM. I'd like to see him gone first, then Housley.

- kritter65

His faults so far have been picking Housley and trading ROR depending on what side of the fence you are on for that one. I for one still think we made out on the ROR trade becuase with him on the team we are picking in the 12-15 range instead of potentially 4th. As well we have $7.5M in cap space to spread across the roster. Im not writing off Tage yet at least until he plays one more full season.

This offseason will be his moment. If the Sabres aren't a playoff team next year I can see him getting the axe however the next GM will reap his benefits (Dahlin, Mitts, UPL, Samuelsson, Laaksonen, top 10 pick this year).

the drafts appear solid

rochester is thriving

hopefully this can trickle up with a new coach and about 6 or 7 more sabres becoming ex sabres this summer

His low risk moves didn't work out (Beaulieu, Sheary, Hunwick). I think we made out on the Pominville/Scandella for Ennis/Foligno trade as although Scandella is still under contract next year we'd be paying Ennis' buyout till 2022 and Foligno would be a waste of cap space till then as well.

Unlike Murray though he didn't use a treasure trove of assets towards his low risk moves and we have the cap space and what appears to be a strong prospect pipeline going forward.

I’m hopeful for some of our prospects too
But we’ve all thought this about group after group of prospects we’ve had coming
A lot of these are likely to not be as good as we project them to be

Didn’t see any of the game tonight...
was it as bad as the score?

I saw we outshot them 35-31 at least

Dude... Murray was horrible
If we are in this position after Botts’ 3rd year (next season),
then he’ll be fired just like your boy was after his 3rd year
