What part of Jake's game do fans like the most ?

His thundering hits that he makes five times a year?
His speeding down the wing and firing the puck over the net or wide ?
His ability to do little for twenty games at a time going unnoticed ?

- VANTEL

He's a solid 3rd liner, his hit totals per game are usually top 3 on the team. If he was better at scoring then he'd be a legit top 6 player, that's why he's only a solid 3rd liner.

This team needs more big and fast players, not less of them.

Jake’s got great speed and he can bully himself to the front of the net at will. He’s one of the few on this team who can do that without getting rocked on his way there.

Trading away young players with upside at this point in Canuck rebuild is nuts IMO.

I still don't see the logic in moving Virtanen unless it's in a package for an upgrade.
- Nucker101

I dont think anyone here wants to trade Jake for the sake of trading him, he clearly still holds value and is completely serviceable to the team in a 3rd line role, but like vantel said, outside of the few deemed untouchable, if jake can be moved now towards getting a good return, Benning has gotta explore that option

I am pretty sure that is what everyone is talking about. I don't think anyone is talking about moving him in anger or spite.

Would a good return be draft pick, prospect, or middling roster player?
Anything you get in a Jake trade would be a lateral move at best.

I think most here think a rebuild takes a season or 2 of drafting and developing.
Most will be in for a rude awakening, when after 6 or 7 years of rebuilding, they still aren't there yet.

Sure, if you can package him and land a player like Domi, Galchenyuk, Nino or the good Granlund, I'll be the first one to praise Jim.

That I can 100% get on board with. But I'd rather trade the likes of Lind, Gadjovich, Dipietro, 2nd round pick, etc but I understand you gotta give to get.

I just thought the new mantra was "speed", but take Jake off of this roster and who are the true "fast" players left? Maybe a handful?

Yeah, my bad. I agree with that. Just as long as it's not for a 28+ year old who's gonna be on the decline by the time this team is good again.

This is awkward . You want bigger stronger I want skilled.

You are bang on he is a good third liner . We have a team full of third liners . We have 9 third liners.

How about now we package him and someone else for a second liner. Something we really need.

It is weird

Like I said above, sure I agree with you guys on that. Just not for an older player who has more declining years left than prime years.

It's a shame that Sven can't stay healthy and little trade value now, I'd rather package him since I don't think he's capable of playing well unless there's a true driver on his line. I think he's the type of player who looks good in the top 6 of a mediocre/bad team but has a tough time finding a role on a contending team.

Anyone watching the LA/Cal game? Looking at live tracker and seems to be a little chippy out there.

I think Benning said speed and skill. Not saying Jake doesnt have skill, but I would say its safe to say one is more prominent in his game than the other lol

Yeah I think the GM this year has to move these guys that are injured half the year.

I want to see either Benning or the new guy start moving some of these guys like Loui and Tanev .

I just want Doughboy to shut up so hoping Tkachuk staples his mouth to the boards.

Can, but doesn't.. or at least doesn't enough. Doesn't seem like he wants to, either?

I'm all for keeping him if he shows improvement. He did for the first half of the year, but hasn't the latter. Hoping the off-season gives him another step, otherwise he should be looked at as a moveable piece for the right deal.

Jake's puck handling skills are pretty bad, I won't deny that.

LE is a pipe dream to move,

Edler, Tanev, Sutter, Sven could definitely be let go.

I don't think Jake has skill . He has the speed and he can hit sometimes but he is not a tough guy. He has a lot of trouble with the finish. He doesn't do enough to make him irreplaceable .

I don’t know don’t pay much attention to Cal and Car.
I see flashes of dominance in Jake’s game that’s why I think he was picked so high. I just don’t think Greens got the most out of him yet.

Jake is what he is. I dont have big expectations for him based off draft position, hes a solid 3rd liner. Hes also young, fast, and can hit which is probably appealing to other GMs. Not saying we make a trade for the sake of it, but if you find a buyer who is interested enough, dealing anyone not named bo/brock/petey/Hughes shouldnt be out of the question imo

Benning specifically said he is going to look at what to do with Loui. He might be headed to Utica.

Yeah, I can see him ending up in the AHL at some point, but he'll still be on the books.
