EP, Hughes, Horvat, Gaudette down the middle. I can live with that.

I would be very nice, for sure.

That said, I look forward to Demko getting a good offseason/upcoming year training with the goalie coach.

I hope so too . I followed Demko on Utica . He was okay. I had big question marks about his play , still do. I will wait to see how he does.

I wish we were deep enough to move EP to the wing at times. Have a dynamic centre with EP and BB on your wings. Oh boy.

He’s looked pretty good, won 2/3 starts. There’s really not much legs to hating on Demko. He got injured. Who cares?! It happens. He’s played well.

Hating on?
C’mon that is drama lol

Drafting C’s is the way to go unless a legit top 2 D is available.

He'll be a starter in 5 years? I totally get he could be a complete flop, but I would think he is either a legit NHL goalie within two full seasons or at least is starting to push for much more playing time. It's possible he takes longer, How many current starters really played backup for 5 years?!

I looked into it, from what I can tell it's pretty much Rask and Schnieder. Both played behind world-class goalies and simply had to wait their turn. Almost everyone else maybe 1-2 years of backup. They're late blooming goalies for sure. Hutton for example. Jones, Dubnyk. But most those guys didn't have the pedigree of Demko. Look up the top10 goalies in the league, how many years did they play backup?
Vasilevskiy 1 year BU
Price 1 year
Lundquist 0
Lehner 4 years
Bishop 4
Anderssen 1 year
Bobrovski 0
Martin Jones 2
Rinne 0
Hellebuyck 1
Holtby 3
Rask . 4

It's amazing what a 2% chance does to someone's hope.

TG on Jake:

“I can put Jake on different lines and in different situations, but he’s a bit of an independent contractor sometimes,” stressed Green. “He can gain zones on teams with his speed and he’s physical. And when he’s determined to play that way, he’s effective.

“I don’t know where he’s going to slot in long term — second, third or fourth line — on a good team and that’s up to him to decide. You hope young guys are pushing to play in those roles.”

Bishop and Lehner off the top of my head. Most goalies are homegrown it seems though.

I've had this as a bottom 5 team since before the season. They've overachieved IMO.

I called bubble team since last summer. A healthier team may have burst that bubble but that will never happen until they move on from Edler, Tanev, Sutter and now most certainly Beartchi.

Not bad enough to finish at the bottom.... not good enough to make the playoffs... always a poopty spot to be in.

I think they'll see what strides he makes over the summer, and if nothing is getting through to him they'll trade him at the TDL for a good return.

I think were a bubble team next year. I don't see this team as one in decline like the end of last year. Bobrovski is another example. Flyers really jumped the gun on getting rid of him, but that place has become a tough environment for goalies. They are being careful with HArt, but he too hasn't been a backup.

Edit: I would say Anderssen might be the best example. Not a very good team when he got there, clearly a starter. 1 year as a backup and is arguably better than Gibson. Gibson might also be a decent example.
