I've been aboard the byram train for a fair bit. hoping he slides down low enough for us to nab. Truth is, teams picking above us will likely nab him unless we hit a lotto pick. In which case, you have to take the BPO. If we have 3oa I'm not opposed to byram that high. But, I could also see him not going until 5-6. Hoping we slide into a top5 pick somehow, it would really go a long way to complete the new core IMO. We have two top5 calibre guys (EP and QH) poised to lead the team for a long while in addition to Bo and BB. One more top end piece and we can build around this group.

I feel we will likely be better off with byram on D than the other 2 forwards. A D like this doesn't come around very often. His season he's already scored 26 goals. He can be that cornerstone D we've never had outside of ohlund. So let's say we draft him, potentially we can add another ufa D. The D could look like

Byram Myers
Edler Hughes
Oj tanev
Schenn

We are way better like this

picking byram over hughes or kakko is insanity. No GM in the NHL would do that and with good reason. Byram is a very solid prospect, hughes and kakko have instant superstar potential. Either would solidify the lineup more than Byram. Our top6 is far from conplete.

I have seen about 30 minutes of dominance in 3 full seasons.

He has value . I don't want to make the same mistake we always make hanging on too long.

- VANTEL

Yes move him now. Get something for him while we can. He may become the worlds greatest hockey player but it ain't happening here

I'd see what they would offer. You never know man whoever is in 3rd or 4th or wherever youd pick byrum may speed our rebuild up real fast if they want 1 that badly.

[img]forwards aren't 100% complete no. Its looking certain on panarin.
But our D us what needed the biggest tooling. That changes our team considerably, way more than a forward. As i said iits not often a D like this comes along. He's a slam dunk fit for van.[/img]

There are no superstars in this draft . Don't kid yourself. There are good players. If you miss out on one player go to the next.

Been so long, I can't remember what that means, is it a generational player, someone with eliteness or is that the good old-fashioned terminology, meaning, someone who excels above their peers.

It’s a soft draft. We will get a player but probably not a superstar. Byram makes the most sense. we will have to move up to 3 to grab him

Byram is going 3rd overall, 4th at worst. Outside of Hughes or Kakko, this is the guy JB should be focusing in on if he gets a shot.

Could you imagine?

Hughes
Byram
Stecher
Juolevi
Woo
Sautner
Brisebois

Young, mobile, fast and great at transitioning the puck......difficult to say if they all live up to a portion of their potential but the Canucks have NEVER drafted a d-core like this good.

Sabers, Rangers and Ducks have a realistic chance of passing Canucks, which would put the Canucks at 5th, pre-lottery.
They could either move up as high as 4 spots, or down to 8th, take the pick, at whatever the position is and hope that Benning starts moving out/not re-signing some of the trash.
This team is still a couple seasons away.

This is correct but there is are definite tiers. I, for one, in the range that the Canucks are drafting would be all over:

Byram
Cozens
Zegras
Turcotte
Boldy

I'd stay away from Kaliyev........please, please Lord, keep JB away from Kaliyev.....

When they finally commit to rebuilding, it will take them another few years. Quick fixes in free agency and trading futures for help now will keep the wheels spinning.

LE is a pipe dream to move,

Edler, Tanev, Sutter, Sven could definitely be let go.

- Nucker101

Perhaps LE will retire and go back to Sweden, after he cashes his signing bonus cheque July 1st.

Sutter we were thinking we could land something (pick wise) after the Beagle singing. Now I'd think we'd be lucky to get a 3rd. With salary retained. Sven we should just keep. Not gonna get anything worthwhile given his concussion history.

Freaking Buffalo didn't do their part last night. Lose to Jersey???

That would be amazing. I’m really high on Byram as well. There are 7 players that are exciting for one reason or another this draft. 7th or better please. As much as I’m anti-tank, we need to lose tonight
