it made the games so much more meaningful.

Meaningful games only get played in March.

I called bubble team since last summer. A healthier team may have burst that bubble but that will never happen until they move on from Edler, Tanev, Sutter and now most certainly Beartchi.

Not bad enough to finish at the bottom.... not good enough to make the playoffs... always a poopty spot to be in.

- boonerbuck

IMO it's a team that will be better next year without many changes. But I'd imagine they will bring in another dman. Hopefully not one with injury problems. Quinn, Demko as backup, another year for some of the younger guys. I don't see the d staying healthy, so the back end is still the biggest issue but I don't see the goalie tandem as being nearly as bad.

The playoff crowd went into hibernation

Lol.
So did the ‘prospect crowd’.
And the ‘future roster crowd’.
And the ‘benning is poop crowd’.

At least half of the benning is poop crowd is intact.

So status quo then?
This team are the champs of mediocrity. That’s why some of us are so desperate to break that cycle that we’re willing to put up with a few years of tanking to get the weapons needed.

I just really hope we land another high pick. I don't think we finish lower next year and it would be nice to get one more really nice piece to build around. Hughes, Kakko or Byram. I'm not picky.

I don’t hate Demko, I just question his abilities. It’s ok to question vancouvers players and prospects

I was thinking teams go from being the worst team for half a decade right to the cup finals.

I was hoping for a really high first round pick this and next year.
Next season, the team still will not be deep enough and will probably run into injury problems again finishing outside of the playoffs but not bad enough to get one of those top three draft positions.

Sad.

I think they'll see what strides he makes over the summer, and if nothing is getting through to him they'll trade him at the TDL for a good return.

What part of Jake's game do fans like the most ?

His thundering hits that he makes five times a year?
His speeding down the wing and firing the puck over the net or wide ?
His ability to do little for twenty games at a time going unnoticed ?

Ya I agree. Likely a bubble team on the outside looking in. But with the right offseason aquisitions, specifically a top4 dman that isn't injury prone and a scoring winger that actually delivers, I think we've got a shot. Anahiem and LA are going to sink for a year or two. Edmonton is huge question mark. We seem to do well in our own conference just need some consistency. For sure injuries are a major story though. With a big offseason of prepartion and healthy season next year I truly think QH/EP/BB/BO can take the reigns and make some serious noise. Already excited for next year

He really doesn't seem to be able to focus on being a pro. Great start to the year and then he kinda disappeared. Maybe that injury took more out of him then is being let on?

Geez. Jake getting no love.

That’s what happens when you start using the NHL regular season as your team’s development league.

You can’t put so much emphasis on winning at the same time you are ‘developing’ the majority of your roster.

What’s the objective in JB and TG Plan?

I'm ok with the losing if the prospects are developing. Gaudette doesn't need to be a major point or goal producer to see that hes getting better and better. If goldobin did what Jake did on the gio goal he would be scratched for a month, and frankly, I half expect that out of goldobin, but out of Jake in year 3 makes it quite a bit worse.

Lots of overreaction today lol
Health & depth are our problem.
Scoring D is coming in Hughes.
Couple more good pieces are needed.
Next season is the acid test for JB with TG also needing to bring us to a new level & us be much more consistent. Associate coaches could be gone.

It is not really no love. Canucks need a few pieces . You are not going to give up Petey Bo or Brock. Next tier down is Jake . He has value and may be over valued. Before his value drops it might be a smart move to get value back for him from the next sucker who thinks Jake will have a breakthrough.

You are kidding, I hope.
Draft pedigree aside, I would take Jake any day over Gaudette.
Gaudette is a mere 6 weeks younger than Jake, yet, many here, will give him forever to develop.
IMO, Gaudette has shown little, if any, nhl calibre play.

What I expect from Jake and what I expect from Adam are different. Age and draft position aside, gaudette has 55 games to virtanens 205 and gaudette is nearly at the same pace for goal and assist totals.

It's not about giving one more time than the other as far as time to develop, it's what you hope to expect after x amount of time developing at this level.

I still don't see the logic in moving Virtanen unless it's in a package for an upgrade.
