So then you agree with me the NMC prevents a trade. Thanks.

Objectively, the Carcillo trade WAS bad.

According to what you just posted he has another year at .925 mil on an ELC. They are losing Simmonds, boyle, Sissons, McLeod, and Grimaldi. I don't see them resigning boyle, and likely not Simmonds. The others arent breaking the bank.

They could let all of them walk and have 12 forwards and 7 defenseman signed. They will resign a few players and send a few others to the AHL. They are sitting very nice with their cap.

- youarewrong

Yes...and with those players gone, they are left with 12F/8D(don't forget Hamhuis)/2G with a little under $3M on the current upper floor. Don't see how that equates to "7 million per open roster spot" of space, even with a $3.5M increase.

I'm not arguing that they're in a good spot cap-wise, just don't see multiple spots where they could spend $7M on each one.

Yeah, the ensuing 9 minute PK was a blast.

That being said, Bradley had his gloves off, so he shouldn't have gotten the extra 2 and 10.

Because right now with the players under contract on thier NHL they only need to sign 1 player. And the 7 million was a projection, not exact. They could resign simmonds to a 6.5 million contract and be fine or they could get another ufa and be fine after they let go of a few scrubs and send anyone extra to the minors.

Did he? Looked like the punch was already thrown by Carcillo by the time his gloves are even off. Hard to tell by that gif though.

Okay, just wasn't sure what you meant. Thanks for clarifying. Not sure if Hamhuis will be cleared, but they'll likely either LTIR him or waive him and clear the bulk of his cap hit, also, that will free up another $1M.

I loved those 9 minutes. I was in the upper bowl, it was Lavy's first game as coach, and we were going wild. I know we lost hard because of that but OMG so memorable.

It's pretty much simultaneous.
Bradley wasnt taking his gloves off in response to that punch but rather because he expected their to be a fight.

NHL = bush league even back then.

I would say since Carcillo wasn't suspended for 20 games the league agreed that they were beginning an altercation at the same time, Carcillo was just much quicker on the draw. Doc Holiday fast.

My favorite Carcillo fight was when he beat the piss out of Gaborik. The NY media was ripping him, but Gaborik clearly had his gloves off first.

That may have been the same game where Hartnell beat up Avery, but I'm not sure.

I just watched that...man, Briere gave him a pretty solid 2-hander before that fight. Danny was no angel with his stick out there.

Those Ranger teams were soft as baby crap, 40 goal scorer drops em with a goon, someone should have ran in there regardless of who started the fight.

I agree. I think Dubinsky was out there. He came to the defense of 6'7"Brian Boyle in the playoffs (and got his 10 games) but not Gaborik. I'm thinking he got some heat for it, which is why he came in when Carkner was pounding on Boyle.

Edit: Dubinsky was tied up with OKT, but Girardi just stood right next to them.

Freaking useless narrative , not saying you but this line that people like to use.

Im willing to bet that a team with Crosby and Malkin in their primes were more then capable of coming back from 3 down without watching Talbot get destroyed.

Possible but I recall Pens looking sluggish. Immediately after the fight they had jump to their game. It definitely sparked them

it didnt spark poop. Marty Biron not being able to control rudimentary rebounds sparked the comeback

We can agree to disagree on that then. =)

I didn't see that fight as being a turning point then and I dont see it was one now.
Look at the goals they scored, at least one of them was a puck batted out of the air..thats more luck + skill then any energy from a fight.

The energy is what leads to the luck + skill. If they dont have the energy, they arent buzzing around the net like that. The Flyers got overwhelmed by that energy and started to make mistakes. It is just like the other PIT\PHI series. Bryz and Fleury are not awful goalies, yet they were lit up more than a christmas tree in that series because of the energy and emotion was overwhelming. How you play is 100% mental. If you are overwhelmed mentally, you cant make those quick decisions to make the right play, you make mistakes. I have experienced this myself.

I loved the Carrcillo head butt on Jeff Carter in the 2010 Stanley Cup Final.
