The offersheet argument exists becaudse people have been had by the Toronto media-The same media people hilariously claim is so biased for the Leafs.
There will be 0 offersheets in the entire NHl this summer. So much time wasted on something that has not occurred in 6 years.

Kapanen, not marner - HealthyScratch6
Man you are dense. Does it say the rangers should offer sheet Kapanen. You mentioned the rangers, not me. I’m done, have a good day |

I think you're the same genius that said the Rangers wouldn't get a 1st for Kevin Hayes. If so, you have no say on the matter. |

Here's a possible scenario for you to consider...
I believe that Kapenan is worth up to 6 million per year.
As Rangers99 correctly stated in the rules for Offer Sheeting a player, it is possible for a team to offer sheet Kapenan for a 6 million a year contract and only have to give up a 1st and a 3rd.
BTW that would be worth it.
That would really put Toronto in a pickle. I can see Kapenan packing already... lol! |

Ehh, I disagree. Kapanen would be making more than Zib. |

Wow, the Rangers are BAD. And they won’t be getting better for a loooong time. Thank god for this Gorgiev dude and his Dominik Hasek impression....

That’s why I said if you are going to try to make a RFA come here, gotta be Marner. Don’t get me wrong Kapenen is a good player, but I don’t think he moves the needle enough |

Not sure if he does. For all the Nylander contract whining, what's often missed is he has 2 61 point seasons. Kapenen in his big acclaimed breakout year, might not even hit 50 points. Not sure even now if a guy with 0 50 point season scan get 6 million+ per. |

Exactly, but like I said, Leafs fans just magically think everyone will be signed no problem. - Rangers99
And non-Leaf fans think everyone will be offersheeted and leave the Leafs.
Do you know how many people guaranteed Leaf fans Matthews was done on the Leafs and this summer would sign a max deal in Arizona (LOL).
The common theme with non-Leaf fans is they believe Leafs cannot trade anyone to free up cap space and thus, 1 or 2 cannot be signed (RFAs).
Leafs are already planning for addressing cheap depth with signings for guys like Moore and Rosen for mutiple years for 750 K each. A guy like Connor Brown can easily be moved and replaced by Moore for 1.75 savings. Also don't count-out a Orpik like buyout for Marleau, or some move for Zaitsev. |

I just want to see the Leef's get shanked so bad.
But you guys are right... 6 million is too much !
But 4 isn't.... lol
And they gotta sign Johnson too... right??? |

I know, Everyone does. That's what leads to the odd belief Arizona can afford to offersheet a guy for 16 million per. It gets unrealistic (I get you did not claim this).
It does get tiresome for Leaf fans reading that everyone will get an offersheet when there hasn't been one in 6 years and NO OTHER RFAs get talked about.
And BTW, I will believe a team gives Marner an offersheet and agrees to give up 4 1st rounders when I see it. No NHl has ever done that in history. It's devesating for an organization ti lose 4 1sts. |

It’s so true. The Leaf-haters refuse to admit that the Leafs could very easily escape their salary cap issues by moving a couple of players
Nylander is having an off season, but they could move his $7M cap hit in a second. Losing Kadri would sting, for sure, but again, they could move him for picks and prospects if they needed to free up some cap room
And it’s not like they’d be giving these guys away for nothing. They’d get to stock the cupboards with quality prospects and picks that would ensure they remain relevant for a long time
But I do enjoy all of the jealousy disguised as concern over TO’s cap issues. Must be so difficult for Dubas to be cursed with all these awesome young players.... |

It's ludicrous and delusional for any fan to think a team with a core of Rielly, Muzzin, Andersen, Tavares, Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kapnen, Johnson is so screwed. LOL. Ok, so they trade one for a great return. What's the big deal?
Leafs will contend for years to come. |

The leafs do have a great young core. You have to contend once though before years to come. I’ll say this though, your window is the next few years. If you don’t win then, things might get painful in terms of cap.

Don't forget, the cap will be 95-100 million within 3 years. The issue for the Leafs is next season. After that they are in good shape.
Seattle expansion will put up the cap 5-7 million the summer after Seattle comes in. There's also the MGM deal coming in.
And contrary to popular belief due to the media not reporting the cap of there teams, contenders like Winnipeg and Tampa have major cap issues this summer. Why do people act like only the Leafs have a cap? |

Yeah and virtually no one else does.
I actually think the Leafs are flying incredibly under the radar right now in terms of discussion as a contender. The match-ups will be very tough against those 3 centres they have.
I also think people truly believe Boston swept Toronto last year in the playoffs. If you analyse all the stats of their players, it is very hard to believe all the numbers stay the same.
Will Freddie Andersen ever have .896 save% in the playoffs again? Kadri was suspended as well 3 games. Matthews had 2 points in 7 games. No Tavares. Will he be invisible? They lost in the 3rd period of game 7. |

The bottom 4 D's is probably too weak this year. With 2 of Sandin//Liljegren/Rosen playing for the big club next season and Dermott healthy, things looks totally different...! |
