We're like 3-4 more Phails away from having a legitimate chance to win one of the lotteries. At this point, as great as getting one of them would be, I feel it's almost more important to just continue to burn like the tire fire this team is to just oust the man driving the ship. Find me a more underachieving franchise. I understand Phil doesn't have all the tools necessary to ice a winning team, which is what it is, but there are so many decisions under his direct control that are questionable at best.

Didn't he have like 1 point in 15 games to start the season? His half-a-point-per-game stats are very encouraging

they started him out on the bottom 2 lines, to work on his defensive game

7th on the team in both the regular season and playoffs last year, 3rd line tweener. 8th so far this year, give him 5th or 6th if he played the whole year. 2nd line tweener. He's also shooting a whopping 18% which is double digits over his career average. He is 12th on the Caps in point share this year.

That's what he is, and he's a player that kills them with penalties. He takes over one minor a game. He has double the PIM the next closest player, Kempny, who has played 15 more games. Could you imagine how much poop Sam would take if he took a minor a game? But Wilson hits guys, so it's all good.

A lot of pick and choose stats here. He is 2nd on the team in goals scored this year 17 ev 3 pp and 2 sh. Also, his over one minor per game is a false narrative as he has 47 minors in 57 games. He does have 5 fighting majors which takes both players off the ice not resulting in a pp. His 18% is double his career average (which includes seasons of 4.8 and 5.1% at 19/20 years old playing 8-11 minutes a night) however he was over 11% last year. Playing a lot more this year in all situations have shown that he can be a good player in the league and help his team win games. I would take him over 3/4s of our forwards even at $5m a year. Hopefully Tage can bulk up this summer and play a bigger role next year. He is 3 1/2 years younger than Wilson and has the potential to become a force if he can continue his development.
