Management has a list of " cant miss nhl players"

If they feel like this draft has 7 or 8.
You make sure to finish bottom 5ish

Pretty simple

- Boss34

That’s an “IF”

What if their list is only 3 players?

And what exactly does management do to make sure the team falls to bottom 5?
It’s not like guys are trying to lose

Heck... in theory, didn’t trading for Montour help us now? That’s not a move to ensure we keep losing

Didn't he have like 1 point in 15 games to start the season? His half-a-point-per-game stats are very encouraging

He's turned the corner. Took time to adjust to the North American pro game. I've watched a few games, and he looks the part of a future (hopefully next year) NHLer.

Matthews (1st), J.T (1st), Marner (4th), Reilly (5th), Nylander (7th), Kadri (7th).

Average draft position of 4.16. That’s the core of a “cup contender”. The Leafs have be rebuilding for 14 years but nobody ever likes to think of it that way. Sure they made the playoffs in Matthews and Marner’s rookie year but a lot of losing had taken place in order to get the depth arround them. The leafs got depth first, superstars after. Sabres have a couple superstar talents, with no depth. Good thing is we have another top 10 pick and a lot of cap space to acquire depth.

I’m on my way to a concert,
so I’m not gonna list how EVERY YEAR there’s guys picked in the teens who are better than Top10 guys

You KNOW that’s true

That's good to hear. The next Gaustad, I hope. A little more offense would be a gift

Idk what they're gonna do. They need more speed, and he has that. At his price point they would be wise to offer a deal imo.
- jcragcrumple

Depends on what he wants. Can’t imagine he’d be hard to get cheap I guess.

I wouldn’t do anything past a 1 year

With the not so new " lottery draft", there is no garauantee a team could pick #3 overall.

So infatically- NO

He's the 6th leader scorer for forwards on this dumpster fire of a team. If they don't want him long term, pay him a bit more on a one-year deal. 3 years 1.5 per would be my initial offer.

They control his RFA rights. There’s absolutely 0 reason to sign a fringe guy to a long term deal.

Yes there are. However I’ll try my luck with the higher pick and higher chances with the lottery.

He’s worthy of a roster spot, but you don’t need to pay 2+ mil for guys like that if it came down to it.

Same with 22, 28, 20

The hope is Asplund, CJ etc make them irrelevant

Most of them, yes.

I’d be fine if 22 and 71 stayed.

I get why people like Erod’s speed, but his offense has been non-existent most of the season.

He has a few more 5 on 5 points than Girgensons, in 100+ more minutes with better teammates. They’re all 4th line fringe guys. One or two can stay

What happened to Jeff Skinner? He straight up Evander Kaned us. ONE goal in the last 17 games, and only 6 points in the same stretch.

So keep 10 out of the 12 current forwards?

We suck. Need change. More then 2 forwards

Patriots go 9-7 at best next year. Book it. Bills win the division at 10-6. We host the Pats in the Wild Card.

I don't hate this at all. Kickoffs are already ruined. Now they just need to fix OT.

Housley apparently shows the kind of emotion u want,
just at practice & not in games

And yeah...
i do think the yellers & screamers do so on a fairly regular basis
If u NEED to do that to motivate your team,
your team blows & isn’t going far

Our team isn’t losing bc “Phil doesn’t have a pulse”

Is him yelling gonna make Tage an accurate shooter?
Is it gonna make Sobatka have some offensive talent?
Is it gonna make Mitts or Pilut develop faster?

Like i said...
I’m not totally discounting the “emotion” part of it
But i also think you guys are making WAY too big a deal about it
And that overall, the effect it would have isn’t all that great

If we had a yeller behind the bench...
are we a playoff team?
Nope
We definitely are not

- jdfitz77

Well this is where we don't agree at all..
Again this team is under performing....BIG TIME You can certainly have your opinion on the matter. you nor I have any idea what this team is right now with a real coach behind the bench.

Who said keep 10?

Sobotka
Girgensons or Larsson
Possibly Erod
Pominville most likely

At least 4 or 5 are changing

Nope. Doesn't matter if Gronk retires ... they'll still be great and probably win the Superbowl. Maybe some day, Brady finally retires. Then and only then can we start talking about the Pats and 9-7 records.

Jack
Skinner
Sam
Mitts
Nylander
Okposo - contract related
Sheary
Tage for another year

Then 22 and 71?

That's 10 forwards out of 12 starters.

Need a little more turnover: next year

The Sabres, in 48 seasons have
-Not qualified for playoffs 19 seasons
-Lost in the 1st round 15 times
-Won 1 round 8 times
-Won 2 rounds 5 times
-Won 3 rounds 1 times

Their best success was found in these seasons
2005-06
2006-07
1998-99
1997-98
1979-80
1974-75

That is 6 seasons of being "successful", which is giving them some slack in defining what success is (win 2 series or more)

Historically, the Sabres have been toxic for 42 seasons.

- IonSabres

You could also say that the 1972-73 season was a great success. Third year out of expansion the team made the playoffs. They pushed a much better Montreal team to six games. The excitement the team brought to the fans was really something.

You mean to say he is outperforming Skunk?
No jab intended to you, rather the many who scoffed at paying Wilson what he earned and devalued his contribution to Caps success.

- IonSabres

7th on the team in both the regular season and playoffs last year, 3rd line tweener. 8th so far this year, give him 5th or 6th if he played the whole year. 2nd line tweener. He's also shooting a whopping 18% which is double digits over his career average. He is 12th on the Caps in point share this year.

That's what he is, and he's a player that kills them with penalties. He takes over one minor a game. He has double the PIM the next closest player, Kempny, who has played 15 more games. Could you imagine how much poop Sam would take if he took a minor a game? But Wilson hits guys, so it's all good.
