I think he’s worth his contract, and he’s clearly the best player on the team right now. He sure wasn’t going to settle for less than eight figures.

But I don’t think his pouting is a good look. And his doing that doesn’t mean that he hates to lose more than everyone else. One would think there must be some sort of middle ground between the full-body pout and small talk with the refs.

But this is his 4th season in the NHL, he is NOT a 2-way forward, and there are 40 other players scoring at a .ppg pace, most of them make less than him. Casey Nelson is an undrafted college FA. He is what he is. I'm done with him but to expect anything more out of him is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Eichel got paid because he was a #2 pick and McDavid set the bar. However, McDavid is worth every penny of his 12 million - the gap between the two was much, much larger than any of us realized.

I am so sick of the (frank)ing excuses this fanbase comes up with.
