But the Hawks didn't take Bouchard.

I don't know, he sounds like another Drew Doughty.

Concussion history and some other issues when he was with the Flames. When he is right he has some value because he brings a physical game. But too big a risk long term at big money.
Hawks better off working hard to develop Perlini and keeping Saad.

- RickJ

Let's hope the Hawks sign Ferland. He would be as well received as Bickell. Signing Ferland for 6M/yr would be pretty much the same contract as Bick's. Without thee playoff performance.

Did you trade Gustafsson? He's not in your lineup.

If Gustafsson is no longer a Hawk and any of Koekkoek, Dahlstrom, or Forsling is retained, it would be ideal as the 7th man and try to add a 2nd new blueliner to pair up with Seabrook.

- AEL_Fox

Sorry at the draft for picks and or prospects if hawks could get a 1st for him that would be great then take those 2 1st rounders and move up or keep them and more depth or one in a trade.

Hopefully the cap goes up a lot the next couple years, they'd need it. I've read that Ferland wants $6M, and I'm sure he'll get more than four years. Would you still want him?
- mohel

Yes hawks need a player like that don't think he 6 million but who knows. Just like wilson did last year in the playoffs with Washington they basically beat the poop out their opponents which open up space for the skill players to make plays and sustain pressure which led to goals.

LOL you must be reading my posts. I have been writing about obtaining those two from Vegas for several weeks. As far as that other veteran D man you mentioned, throw in Kookoo in the Vegas trade and get Miller.

Regarding Gus's absence in your proposed lineup, what if the Hawks dress 7 D and use Gus on PP and O zone starts? Also dress him and sit Seabs on back to backs?

- boilermaker100
sorry to mention hawks gust at the draft for picks and or prospects or maybe they keep as a stop gap for boqvist.

If we were to get a forward, I'd rather it be Anders Lee.
- BetweenTheDots

IsLanders will resign him and nelson unless they do not want to resign with the islanders

4th row off the glass in the corner of Avs zone where Hawks shoot twice. Right next to where the ice girls come out. Red Hawks jersey, short blonde hair and a large beard.

LETS GO HAWKS!

- EnzoD

Playoff beard? Bet you’ll be drinking a big glass of weed spiked Kool Aid too.

Go Hawks!

No worries. If the Hawks can obtain another 1st in exchange for Gustafsson, that would be ideal if he is traded before the 2020 TDL. Guessing other assets may need to be involved?

If Gustafsson is gone, I still think that leaves 2 spots on the blueline to fill by new experienced defenders. I think some fellow posters have a few ideas like McNabb, Miller, Chiarot, etc.

Predictions?

I've got Colorado 5 - 2. Too many lavender sniffers on the Hawks.

- mohel

Think the lavender sniffers pull it off today with a 6 3 win .
Kane and Toews will have big games.

Not disagreeing that a bone crusher who can play is a good add. My point is more about the UFA market - almost every decent player signs for far more, and longer term than what this board (including me) wants to pay. Just think we should account for that - including the cap ramifications in two years of overpaying for an old guy. When the guy doesn't play to the level we think he should and the Hawks have cap issues signing Strome and Cat, Stan will get a beating here for doing what we asked him to do.

I would like Hawks to sign Ferland or Neilson or Lee but realistically they will probably want 5 to 6 year contracts at six million per and Hawks have to avoid that as they already have some long term contracts and Dcat and Strome coming up soon.
Can't believe so many here want to get rid of 15 goal 55 point Defenceman making 1.2 million .

Everyone here wants to dump this guy because he’s the worst defender since Pete Maravich (I know - different sport - work with me on this) -

But the Hawks are going to get a 1st for him.

I agree, going forward he has to tread carefully. Btw last time the contract negotiations came up the owners remarkably had no money, i expect another flat cap for 3 years

maybe they can go borrow from the the "poor" multibillioniare MLB owners..

Trout: $430 million for 10 years
Harper: $330 million for 10 years

Trout is one helluva of a player but really...
Harper is a joke defensively, a constant whiner who strikes out alot, and had really one great year...phillies will regret this deal
